Map not moving & Google Search not working

I am so frustrated. I am trying to add a custom location in iPhoto.

To do this I am using the Google Search in Manage My Places section. The google search just does not work. I type in London and the map greys out and the round timer comes up and then nothing.... It runs like this forever!

In addition, I have tried to grab the map to centre a part of it I am interested in. Grabbing the map just picks up the square of the map I have selected and tries to copy it. If I hold on and take it over the desktop and then release, it copies a square of the map into a file and deposits it on the desktop. I have tried this in all of the parts of the app that let me see a map. They all behave the same.

I have read from the forum that other people have had this kind of problem when their internet connection isn't working but mine is.

I have switched off the firewall. No change

Google works fine on Safari and it can find London....

Help!!!

The same thing is happening to me. Locations in iPhoto worked just great until I did the iPhoto update but hadn't thought about the Safari update (that it may be causing this problem). I was using Safarai Beta and had no problems whatsoever but I did update Safari and maybe that's the problem. Whatever is causing this, I hope Apple will come up with a fix. I really liked the locations feature and have been telling everybody I know about how great it is, then I went to tag some pics last week and again tonight and can't get the location to come up. Also, when I try to move the map with the arrow it takes out a little square area from the map and seems to "pull it away" from the map although it snaps back in place. What's that all about???!!
