Since upgrading yesterday from Safari 4 beta to Safari 4 proper (and from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7), a strange things happen: when I scroll up or down in Safari, the color fades. It returns if I stop and click outside the app (i.e. on the desktop background), then recurs if I again scroll in Safari. Didn't happen before the upgrade, and it's quite annoying. Any suggestions?
macbook,
Mac OS X (10.5.7),
2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2 GB RAM
I should probably add that I am running two displays and only have this problem so far on the DVI LCD on the DVI port, not the identical DVI LCD running off the mini display port with adapter.
No, I am having this problem with a MacBook Pro and ATI X1600 graphics. I think we have safely pinpointed the problem to Fast User Switching, a 2nd display and the release version of Safari 4. I wasn't having these problems with OS X 10.5.7 and beta of Safari 4.
Interesting that I've been using my ATI and Safari for since release with no problems and then suddenly noticed it within minutes of installing the new video card.
I also have Fast Switching enabled, but so far have only noticed the problem in Safari windows that where open when I woke from sleep.
Just installed 4.0.1 update and my screen is now all wishy-washy. Contrast is screwed up as well as colour saturation which as pre posts fades... 4.0.0 was fine... what happened..???
I have a 2GHz iMac Intel Core Duo, Dual Screen and Fast User switching turned on, and have the same problem. Though my new Powerbook with secondary screen and fast User Switching is on, but haven't had the same problem with that! ?? Apple... where are you? and who listed this as "Answered"?
Well I was hoping that with the new release os Safari 4.0.1 apple will fix the problem but I still having it still fading all reds to black I don't know I try everything repair permissions, reset safari, trash safari preferences, reinstall the software and I can see that it happen with many users. Started to me when I upgraded from Safari 4 Beta to Safari 4 Full only when I use external monitor, only with Safari and the problem is not constant some time it work fine some time the problem come back is anyone in Apple get to read this How we can make sure Apple knows that some users are having this issue?
I've sent plenty, they don't care. This is a MAJOR problem and they have been completely unresponsive despite issuing an update which doesn't address this problem.
It's unlikely to be a hardware problem, as it only occurs when using Safari 4.0.x Final, doesn't show up anywhere else in the system, and it shows up on a wide variety of system configurations.
Further, its always confined to the Safari window, no matter how the window is shaped or where it is. I've also had it happen on both the internal and external monitor.
As far as a logical software-based reason, every time you scroll, the software has to re-render/re-draw the window. I'm guessing something's wrong with the redraw code.
