Ipod Touch 2G Bluetooth problems

I just upgrade my ipod touch to 3.0 and try to connect my macbook bluetooth device with my ipod touch to send a picture but it doesnt work....my macbook found my ipod´s bluetooth, but it doesnt connect to the ipod, when i tried to send the picture, it says in my macbook ¨The device does not have the necessary services¨...neither with my motorola bluetooth set, the ipod doesnt find it.

What should I do??

Thanks!

To everyone who wants their money back because of the limited Bluetooth support -- isn't the neat cut and paste feature worth the upgrade cost by itself, not to mention the landscape keyboard feature which should minimise typing errors?

I must admit though that I had been looking forward to using the headset I have for mobile phone use in conjunction with my free Truphone app (plug!) for making phone calls over wi-fi, which would be nicer than using either Apple's own headphone which works with this app, or Truphone's own headphone adapter, as the bluetooth headset actually clips on to the ear and can't fall out!

I'm running a a set of moto 820's on my new 3.0 software. They have full A2DP support & a mic...And yet I can not use the mic & previous/next track commands do not work. I have tried different A2DP compliant headphones with the same result, & read in other forums about their issues with the lack of support.

My question to Apple- What's the deal? this is why I paid for the update so I could use the full A2DP support that was promised in the release to integrate with my headphones, as well as my car.

So please provide the promised support or reimburse my $10 for misleading me.

Personally I don't care about cut and paste.

-I want to be able to listen to my ipod w/o wires & have the ability to change tracks ( I know, a tall order, right?)

-Record voice memo's with my BT820's

-Get what I paid for, nothing less

And yes I am upset. Once again mislead. I am not happy right now. Fix it or refund it.

Before the 3.0 upgrad, I used a tiny 3rd party bluetooth device with my Touch and I could easily pair the device with my Sony car audio. After paring, I could use the controls on my car's steering wheel to control volume and select tracks backward/forward. I could also use the steering wheel control to select Mode (switching between radio, CDs and Audio i.e. iPod). But with the 3.0 upgrade and after pairing my Touch with the Sony car audio, all the controls on the steering wheel DO NOT WORK! I have to extend my fingers to the main console of the car audio to adjust volume, change Mode, and select track which is unsafe when I am driving. I am very disappointed by the backward technology of Apple and want my money back too!

There are a lot of Bluetooth "profiles" and the right one have to be implemented in both devices to create a "link". Probably a lot of the problems experienced are due to the headsets not implementing the standard BT profiles but using custom ones.

As it stands today we do not know which profiles Apple has implemented in the iPod touch 3.0 software. We need to know and check if this matches those in our target devices.

For example if Apple has implemented only A2DP then it can stream stereo audio (presumably using the standard SBC codec) to any receiver with this implemented. Also it seems the Apple has not implemented the AVRCP profile which is the one required for remote control of iTunes playback.

These are the BT profiles

A2DP audio source & sink, depends on GAVDP - mandatory support for SBC codec (optionally Mpeg1 (i.e. MP3),2,4, AAC & others including custom codecs). No surround sound.
AVCTP exchange messages with AV equipment
AVDTP for AV stream recogniiton, establish & transmit procedures
AVRCP interface for remote controls - could be used with A2DP for control on iTunes... if implemented
BIP images: send, browse, get, push, print, control remote camera/device,
BPP send text, email, vCards, images or other items to printer.
BNEP transport of network protocols (e.g. IPv4/6), based on Ethernet packets. Runs over L2CAP
CIP ISDN signaling
DUN Dial up (e.g. to a mobile phone)
ESDP universal plug and play
FTP browse server, push/pull files
GAP basis of allother profiles, establishes baseband link
GAVDP A2DP & VDP, distribution of audio & video
GOEP object push/pull - used for OPP, FTP & SYNC
HFP place & receive calls on handfree device
HCRP printing using local print driver, replacing cable connection, runs on L2CAP
HSP headset communication, including remote control & audio I/O, uses SCO & AT commands
HID keyboards, pointers, uses USB definition, uses L2CAP
ICP direct comms between mobile phones on same network (walkie-talkie), uses SCO
OPP roles of push/pull clients, used often for Vcard exchange
PAN ad-hoc network
RFCOMM RS232 cable simulation
SDP how to discover a clients services
SDAP how to use SDP to discover services on remote device
SIM connect to SIM card
SPP virtual serial ports
SYNC used with GOEP to sync calendar & address info
TCP wireless phone
VDP stream video, using H263 baseline.
WAP data exchange with WAP server

Lets hope Apple soon issues atechnical note about their implementation.

Man, I thought I was the only one experiencing BT problems with firmware 3.0.

I, on the other hand, have an A2DP BT headset Creative SE2300. Although I was able to get the two paired it is no walk in the park!

First off, it has an intermittent poor signal. After pairing it it disconnects when you exit the bluetooth menu using the back button. Sometimes it disconnects when you press the home button as well. Pfft! -_-

Next after using it for the previous time, reconnecting it again makes the connection worse! It connects then disconnects. This behavior repeats itself for the remainder of the time until I reboot the iPod and it pairs okay again.

The navigation buttons don't work on my headset although the pause/play button works okay!

Lastly, if you try to restart bluetooth via the slider button, the iPod locks up the button and it will forever be stuck in the starting position until you reboot.

I have the very same problem. Ipod Touch 2G and Sony MBS 100. What is the point of being able to control what music plays from your ipod but not the volume. It makes no sense to leave the volume control out. This is remiss from Apple and they should add volume control to the bluetooth functionality in the next software update!

Disgruntled..

No volume control.

I have the same problem - in a different way. I have some hearing aids from Phonak (Versata) that can communicate with my iPod touch by means of Phonak's neck loop (iCom). It is great - and it also answers my Verizon LG cell phone. I can listen to my iPod music in stereo, and when the phone rings I press the iCom and the music is replaced by the cell phone conversation - all of it augmented by the digital processing that brings back high frequencies for my old ears.

The only problem ?? When connected to the iCom by bluetooth the iPod Touch has no volume control on the music screen. I cannot adjust the volume of the music.

That is totally unbelievable - some engineer really dropped the ball here.

It make a fantastic system nearly worthless.

Paired up nicely with my MacSense BTi-660 - no issues. Connection range and sound quality are (so far) much better than when paired with my MacPro. Some of the controls don't function, but to me that's not a big issue. Pause works, Volume works - next/prev track and ffwd/rev do not. As someone else mentioned in this thread - volume controls work on my BT device, but the itouch volume controls have no effect on the BT headset. The BT mic also does not seem to function.

I would expect that most of the issues cited in the forum so far will be addressed with future software releases -- lets just hope its real soon now -- Expectations have been set, now its up to Apple to make sure they're met.

I'm not aware of a hardware limitation at this point that would prevent functionality from coming via a software update. I am a bit surprised however that it made it out of the gate without Volume and Track control, but I was hoping even more for BT microphone functionality for my SIP and VoIP clients. We went through extensive efforts to install a VoIP friendly WiFi environment in the office which handles seamless handoffs between AP units, so I'm looking forward to true wireless networking as my iPhone buddies have today. I have noted however that battery drain is considerably higher while using Bluetooth, causing me to require a charge on a nightly basis.

Golan.
