Invalid Security Code - frustration !

Hello to you all Apple/Mac lovers 🙂,

I did see that someone had already posted about this earlier, only the topic was marked as solved so I'm making a new one.

Here's a little heads up for anyone who doesn't about this 😉 : when trying to add a credit card to the payment info on my iTunes store account, it says that I have to enter a valid security code - but the code I entered is already fully valid ! However many times I try I can't get it to work. Any clues, ideas, help ? Thanks a lot 🙂 !

Charles

I've been dealing with the same problem. I thought it was Apple's problem, but found out that the problem is with Mastercard. I have been to my bank (in Virginia) and they acknowledged that all of their Mastercard card holders are unable to use their cards. This has been going on for the last 24-36 hours. You might want to give your bank a call. Mine said they are diligently working with Mastercard on the fix. Denial of Service attack??

My AppleID account has a VISA Debit card successfully added months ago. I purchased "Bad Piggies" September 28th, the day it was released. I got my app (bit of a disappointment). 5 days later there were updates on my iPhone, but I couldn't update due to a "billing problem". I logged into my AppleID acct. and checked my payment methods, it said my "CVV2" code was invalid! Well, it _was_ valid when I originally registered it, but the page would not take the code! My entire purchase history was gone! I emailed support and got a series of emails indicating there was an outstanding order for which I had not received a receipt for. Their suggestion: "Not being able to verify an authorization is a sign that something needs to be addressed by the issuer of the card. You will need to contact your financial institution to determine the specific cause of the card being rejected. When contacting your financial institution, ask to speak with the fraud/security department. The representative will need to thoroughly review your account until they locate and resolve what is causing the issue. If there are holds on your account, those will need to be removed. Please note that your financial institution can also choose to bypass the authorization process."

Bollocks! Ridiculous! Total BS! The underlying problem was, in fact, that Apple had not retrieved their $ for the Bad Piggies purchase. Even though sufficient funds were availble when I made the purchase AND I got the app, whenever they got around to getting the payment ($1.12) my balance was in overdraft. That is the "billing problem". It has nothing to do with the card, the bank, or fraud, just misinformation and misdirection on Apple's part. I expected a lot more from Apple, and am very dissappointed and dissolusioned with this experience.

Once my balance was in the black, I revisited the iOS AppStore and got my updates. A short time later I got my receipt for Bad Piggies. However my AppleID acct. still has no purchase history, via the web Apple Store. I just checked via iTunes and it has my purchase history. Weird.

Apple should really work on providing clear and userful information regarding accounts and payments.

Hi.

Assuming credit card is valid, address the same as what's on record in your bank and expiration, sec. code all good...

If all is good and your cc is not blocked... Don't bother calling your bank.

This worked for me:

- go to apple.com on your computer (not iTunes)

- login to your account

- select edit payment info

- select "none" in the credit card area

- click Done

- click "Deathorize all computers"

- return to payment info

- re-enter your credit card info

- go back to your iTunes and try a new purchase/update

- you can then authorize any computer o device you want

This should clear any cached data, or old details on other devices that may be conflicting.

Good luck.

Same problem here, 2 weeks ago I used iTunes for bought an app use my CC. But this day when I tried to buy some app and tried to update my profile in iTunes and put my CC number again it was declined. I don't know why but I never changed my address in my profile data and there's no problem with my bank and billing address same with my billing address in my CC data. I tried from my app store and had same problem too.

Not only about my CC declined by iTunes, there was an error too when i tried to update iMovie in my new retina mac book, it said I must put different account that used to be used purchased it.

I don't know what's wrong with iTunes these day, but I just found too many error in iTunes, sometimes i miss the past which there's no error in any product apple (iTunes) 😟
