Bluetooth Sound Quality Problem

Im using a Iphone 3G to stream music to my bluetooth car stereo and i can hear some sort of static and crackling behind the music. If i pause the music and turn the sound right up you can really hear the static real bad.

I have tried to use a cable to play through my car stereo and the noise doesn't happen.

Is anyone else having this problem, and is there a solution?

I just thought I would put my two cents in here. I have paired my 32Gb 3GS into a Motorola S9-HD, Motorola 850 stereo bluetooth headset and into my wifes Toyota Venza through bluetooth, and the sound quality is surprisingly good on all of them. Of course, the AVRCP skip forward and backward for songs does not function, but the sound quality of the music is good. It is possible that you folks might have a hardware issue that could be looked at by Apple. You might also want to try restoring your phone as new and resyncing everything... I know it's a pain, but it often times fixes these types of problems. It's worth a try before heading over to an Apple store. Good luck.

I had the same problems with audio distortion as everyone else, but I may have a fix, at least a temporary fix. I have several A2DP devices, Motorla EQ-7 and Sony BTM-30 bluetooth speakers, as well as the following BT headphones- Motorola S805 and a Sony DR-BT50. All devices had the same high frequency distortion problems.

I called Apple to get resolution for this and they said to try unpairing all devices and reset the Network Settings. Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings. I did this after and it clears out saved networks but it magically cleared up the distortion problem after BT repairing.

Problem is, when I started to load in new wifi networks, the distortion came back. I repeated the above procedure, distortion gone.

Hope this helps you, too! Apple should be able to fix this with new software.

Just to add my voice to the crowd - I have just bought a set of Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800, fantastic bluetooth stereo earbuds, but nearly useless with my 3GS as the volume is way too loud at a fixed volume. Every other bluetooth device (phones, satnav, computer, etc) I have tried allow volume control - really can't understand why the iPhone can't.

If Apple allow volume control from the iPhone in the next OS update I will be a very happy bunny. Chances of this happening? Hmm...

Even in Germany I have this problem 😉 Paired it to my XCARLINK and when I am in Ipod-Mode, there is no volume-control, so the iPhone is playing at maximum loudness. Other Apps (like Bloom) HAVE a volume control when streaming to the bluetooth receiver and the distortion is okay (not completely gone).

So please fix this problem and give us the loudness-control in iPod mode, too!

I'm having the same bluetooth audio problem with a brand new iPhone 3G S using a new Pioneer audio deck in my car. There's static, and I've tried playing with the EQ and other audio settings on the deck, as well as adjusting the volume and EQ on the phone. No luck.

And there's no volume control when I'm connected via Bluetooth. I have to disconnect the bluetooth device (Bluetooth can be on but must be disconnected from any devices) to adjust the volume, then I can re-connect and the new volume setting is used.

I am really surprised to hear that someone here has had perfect audio with their S9-HDs and car stereo bluetooth. My Kenwood deck and S9-HDs work fine with other bluetooth devices, and they do successfully pair with the iPhone. The sound quality is fine but they lose the signal for half a second and repeat this issue for an unspecific amount of time (sometimes up to a minute). Full playback will resume as normal and then again with no repeatable pattern. This is definitely an issue with the software protocol, not my hardware.

EDIT: I'm only referring to Bluetooth STEREO here, not the mono signal for phone calls. That has always worked fine for me.

I am jumping on board with this one. BT to my pioneer 710BT is ok not amazing but here is my biggest gripe after 20 days of iphone 3gs ownership. people I talk to with iphone BT connect through the stereo (hands free), is terrible and EVERYONE I talk to tells me connection is terrible and going in and out making it unusable. This is the reason I bought the stereo.

My crappy old Razor BT with this same stereo was crystal clear and ears on the other end did not complain once. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Bump.

I'm still having the same problem. Tried a different iPhone 3G S (after clearing out the Bluetooth memory in the phone and the audio deck in my car), and tried a BRAND NEW deck (same model I have: DEH-P6100BT). There was still static, mostly on the treble tones. This static does not occur with CDs, so it's not the speakers or wiring.

I hope someone finds a solution... 3.1 firmware for the phone didn't solve it.

I have a Kenwood BT Handsfree in my car and have had same static problems with people saying they cannot hear me. Same system works fine with Nokia phones. Same with iPhone 3G and Iphone 3GS, 3.0 or 3.1.

Also on playback of music have hiccoughs in playback when wifi is on.

This is terrible if Apple intends to use Iphone as a business phone.
