Airport express and Uverse wireless modem

Is there a way to connect the an airport express with a uverse wireless modem wirelessly? I just switched ISP's and uverse uses a wireless modem, which basically makes the airport express dormant. Can I connect the 2 together or should I just use the airport express to connect to my stereo? Thanks for your help.

For AirTunes. I've been running my iTunes from my computer to speakers downstairs. I got another AE so I could also connect to speakers in the TV room. In the middle of this, I lost my connection to the internet. I spoke to tech at ATT and he tinkered with my setup and got me back on line but now my AEs don't work. I have plugged in an audio cable. That's how I thought the AE recognized its role but I'm really stuck.

OK, thanks for the info. Since you have made changes to your main router, the best approach would be to hard reset the Express back to factory defaults and try to reconfigure the device(s).

Power down the Express for a few moments
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in as you plug the Express back into power
Release the reset button after approximately 10 seconds

Open AirPort Utility and try to use the auto setup to see if the Express will hold the new settings. Basically, you are telling the Express to "Join" a wireless network (your AT&T wireless) and enable AirTunes.

Any luck?

As soon as you see the message that the configuration has been downloaded, close the AirPort Utility window. Wait a 5-10 seconds then pull the power on the Express.

Plug the Express back in and see if it is working on your network correctly. It may be OK.

I don't have good luck trying to find the Express with wireless using AirPort Utility. Instead, I usually connect an ethernet cable from the computer to the Express and open AirPort Utility. Usually, the Express will appear right away and occasionally it will take a few moments for it to appear.

See if some this might help.
