OMF

Hello again,here is my problem i received an omf from my client for experimenting with logic could not open in logic i have tryed everything,then i tryed in Protool the sequence open immediatly
i saved an reexport in omf from Protool .Now it takes more then 30 minutes to open the sequence
in logic and sometime there is no fades at all and some time the first minutes of the show is rendered and the rest is there, i can see all the audio clip but they are not playing.I also tried with the vidéo supplied with the job did not work i downgrade to QT 7.6.2 and now i am waiting for logic to figure it out the séquence.
This sequence is 21 mins long by 10 tracks deep this is a very very small job for Protool but it look like this is impossible for logic.I need help please a.s.a.p

Thanks Larry but this is not good enough for me, i am just trying to get a way to open
OMF file comming from an Avid onto Logic w/o Protools.
What is the problem ? One system working in sub frames the other one not.
Fades or cross fades files folders? Bit rate ? sampling freq ? numbers of track?
Numbers of characters to name a file? Stupid mac and pc compatibility? OMF is a protocol if it,s good between Avid and Protool why it's so difficult between all
the others? There must be a way to stip the informations from the omf document
to make it work in Logic and probably for all the other workstations .

I've had exactly the same problems and frustration with importing OMF files, my solution has been to have the production house to supply me with a AAF file... works everytime.

Hi all,

I've got some experiences with OMF and AAF files generated in AVID.
1. AAF is opened in PT equiped with Digitranslator app. There is no problem with opening AAF and OMF in PT.
2. There are two types of OMF (as I remember) : type OMF 1 and OMF 2. I've find out that there is no problem with OMF 1 in Logic. Last week I opened OMF1 from AVID in Logic - no problem. Just ask AVID operator to export OMF1.

Thanks Logic 8 i will try OMF 1 with Logic it has been and eternity since i've work with omf 1.

Thanks LOM i did some test with OMF1 and AAF none of them works in both case(AAF and OMF1) Logic reconized the sequence tell me there is some audio files missinng
ask to relink from an audio files folder, open the numbers of tracks corresponding
to the sequence, but there is no audio in the project.So i give up, i will buy
a PT LE with digitranslator .Enough suffering
