Delivery question!!!

I ordered a Macbook Pro 17 last Monday. I am suppose to get it today as schedule shows, but what I notice is the computer is not at my local neighborhood, it's at LOUISVILLE , KY , US. I live in San Jose, California.
Can anyone tell me what's going on with my laptop, it's far away from me.

On the contrary this is quite relevant to Apple and us as consumers! Its regarding how our Apple hardware is literally handled behind the scenes by FedEx. Ask me how after having inside knowledge of operations, I will only buy directly in a Apple store. As a courier (driver) once said to me inside one of their stations, "If the customer knew what their package went through behind the scenes, they would freak."

Buying directly from an Apple store is simply not possible for a great many people - the stores are far too few and far apart, and the country far too large for that to work for everyone.

Speaking for myself, between personal orders and work orders, I've had dozens and dozens of Apple machines (laptops, desktops, servers, RAIDs) shipped and never had any more problems with them then any other shipped item - ie. the vast majority of them arrived in perfect cosmetic and working order. Those very few that didn't were easily dealt with by a quick call to Apple (who either replaced or repaired promptly).

I believe shipping for Apple is primarily handled by UPS, which is a good thing. I think my original point has been lost. As for me after working with FedEx Express (air) for years as a contractor/broker and literally observing the handling of computer hardware behind the scenes, I wouldn't let them handle my trash removal! Absolutely no way would I order a laptop computer knowing that FedEx express was handling the shipping of the package.

1grandidle1: You've made your point several times over now. Please leave it at that. No one who orders anything from Apple can choose who ships or handles it on its way from factory to buyer, so bad-mouthing Fedex here serves no purpose even if your statements are 100% accurate — which none of us is in a position to evaluate. What we know is that whether or not the experience you report is typical of Fedex's behavior everywhere, most Apple shipments arrive in good condition regardless of who carries them.

My original point continued to be challenged by people who have no inside knowledge of what they were talking about.
which none of us is in a position to evaluate.
As a former FedEx express broker/contractor I'm cleary in a position to evaluate.
so bad-mouthing Fedex
Point was not to bad-mouth FedEx, just a friendly expose from me.
I hope have not offended anyones sense of brand loyalty!

Strange that they so rarely call themselves FedEx Express. Sounds like they have a bit of an identity crisis. FedEx itself is the registered trademark.

Regardless, my error, it still doesn't stop the fact that they are neither no better nor worse than UPS. At least they are easier to deal with than DHL and Airborne in my neighborhood. Both UPS and FedEx (Express if you desire to call them that), have offices that are open late in my area, and both have city dropoff locations at major stores, such as Kinkos for FedEx, and Office Depot for UPS. Both have a mixed history of dropping off packages on my porch without requiring a signature, and/or holding back until someone is there, or forcing you to go to their delivery headquarters to pickup packages.

Prince, my delivery has frozen at Louisville KY exactly like yours did. No updates for the last 24+ hours. Any ideas what the **** they do for 24 hours at KY ? My guess is these are queued up for customs clearance at KY- thats why it takes a long time to clear KY at its the POE (port of entry) - check out the "import scan" code in the trail. Interestingly the import scan doesn't have in Anchorage (maybe too cold :-)) even though its US soil. Also an interesting lesson on the trade between Shanghai (no delay for export clearance - almost immediate) versus US (over 36+ hours in import clearance).
