I usually don't buy extended warranties and such, but is it worthwhile to get the one yr extension via apple care (3gs)?

So if you run your battery below 50% everyday and charge to full each day, it'll be pretty decent for about a year and a month. That alone almost seems worth the price of the Apple care. But we're talking how it's designed to work going by that, not "real world" use unless someone is able to be that consistent in their charging practice. I've had my phone for a week, I'd like to hear from people that have been using iPhones for a few years. Everyone's usage will be different and the 3GS is supposed to have improved battery life so there are many variables and an unknown in how the new design performs.
I've been using my 3G for nearly a year. I probably average a full charge cycle on a daily basis, and I've noticed no significant decline in my battery life. I plan on using my 3G until the next generation iPhone is released next summer - primarily since I don't qualify for AT&T's upgrade or fully subsidized price for a new phone until the end of this year. At that point, it will be another 6 months or so until the next generation iPhone is released.
Ok, thanks. I wouldn't mind hearing from anyone who's had the Apple care - if they used it and what for.

I currently have AppleCare and I've had it on other devices. Used it on a PowerBook I used to have that had the SuperDrive go bad (which also took out the WiFi), had it on a PowerMac that just got sick and went downhill from there. Also replaced an iPod Touch with a bad screen.
And used it to call for support on occasion.

If you live near an Apple Store, AppleCare is almost definitely not worth it, because they often treat you the same whether you are under warranty or not. I got the power supply in my iMac G5 replaced for free on the spot several months after my warranty expired a few years ago (in Portland, OR), and my sister just got a new battery for her 2 year old MacBook Pro, also for free and on the spot (in Colorado) by bringing it in to the Store. I don't think they always do this kind of stuff, but the staff seems to have discretion to do this sometimes even if your warranty is expired.
I am debating this same issue. I bought a 3GS with my AMX. AMX told me that by using their gold card and making the purchase, I get an extra year added to the warranty. All I would receive with apple care would be the phone support, I suppose. I am leaning away from purchasing the apple care.
That was covered by the one-year warranty that comes with the phone.
Apple care worth it?
