Error 0xE8000065

OK so I was on 2.2.1 on my iPhone with iTunes 8.1.1 and everything was ok. I updated to 8.2 and updated my iphone to 3.0. At first itunes displayed a message saying my iphone was detected but couldnt be identified properly and said to disconnect and reconnect. I did so and now it says "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000065). And everytime I unplug and reconnect iTunes displays this message, and sometimes it doesnt even recognize my iPhone. My pc recognizes the iPhone as a Camera(??) but iTunes does nothing... I also pluged my 1G iPod Touch and the same message is displayed... Can someone help??

This has been happening to me for a few weeks. Same error. Today after it happened again, I unplugged my lightning cable from one USB port in my computer and put it in a different port.

iTunes opened just fine and went through the backup process flawlessly.

Can't say why this fixed it, but it did.

Hi all,

It looks like this c-state thing might be good for many, but I don't appear to have this option in my new PC's bios.

I'm using a Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4P with a core i7 860 cpu.

Does anybody know how to do the c-state thing on this motherboard?

The iphone doesn't work in windows vista or windows 7 on this PC. It DOES work in Windows XP but at a speed so slow you can't imagine it (30 minutes to sync a SINGLE 15MB podcast for example, or 3 hours to sync 1 album from my itunes library).

Looks there's a problem with iTunes/Win 7/P55 chipset. Not sure exactly which combination but I have the same issue. I have a i7 860 on Win 7.

Unfortunately, enabling CSTATE for me does not work. I was able to recover my Ipod Touch 32GB, but it keeps failing when trying to sync. It'll go through a few files, then I'll get the error. Disconnect/Reconnect/Sync -> same error.

I just asked a friend to try syncing on his new win 7 setup with P55 and he's getting the same problem.

Hi,

Thanks for the post!

After installing Windows 7 Professional 64 bit I installed 64 bit version of iTunes. Successfully sync'd an iPod Nano and Classic, but got the 0xE8000065 error when trying to sync both an iPhone and iPod Touch. After several hours of messing around I found this post, changed C-State in the BIOS from "DISABLED" (default) to "ENABLED", and problem solved.

I was having the same issue on my new system. iTunes would freak, spit out the error while Win 7 would spew up the "MTB Device Driver Failure".

I can confirm that setting the C-State in the BIOS to "Enabled" (set to "Auto" be default) fixed the problem. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4P.

I hope you are all able to resolve the issue as easily.

Now if Apple would just fix Quicktime so that I can SEE the controls in 64bit Windows..

Hey plus613, I'm running the exact same motherboard as you.

The C-State for the GA-P55-UD4P can be found in the BIOS as follows.

1)MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T)
A)Advanced Frequency Settings
1)Advanced CPU Core Features
a)C3/C6/C7 State Support

It is set to "Auto" by default. I switched to "Enabled" and the iPhone was happy.

Hello Experts

Thankyou so much. Have had no end of issues with my 1st Gen iPod Touch since upgrading hardware and software. System is Asus P7P55D with Intel i5 processor, windows 7, 64 bit. iPod was basically bricked. Even Apple store in Manchester were unable to help.

Read that this BIOS setting could possibly fix my issue with restore. Well it did - no more errors & got iPod synced. Lost most of my app data, but at least got back a working iPod that was ready to go in the bin. Thankyou very much guys and girls.

This is happening to me also. After installing Windows 7-64, the sync with my Ipod freezes after a couple of songs transfers. Tried everything imaginable: Itunes reinstall, execute with compability to VIsta, energy safe mode off to USB ports/hubs, cable change, restore Ipod. I have a Acer Aspire M3641, lastest ITunes version, latest software on Ipod. Please Microsoft, Apple, Intel, whoever, WAKE UP !!! Code 0xE8000065
