Am I the only one who is completely underwhelmed by the new additions in 9?

Let's keep in mind here that the vast majority of gripes about Logic 8 were with stability and performance, not features. If they've added relatively few new features (although some of the audio editing features look nice) because they instead concentrated on performance and stabilization, that would be a GOOD thing.

Updated content, some much requested audio editing features, some nice tweaks to existing effects and plugs, and a GOOD STABLE Logic, and I would consider this a very sweet upgrade indeed.

Don't be too quick to be disappointed here just because there aren't a thousand new bells and whistles or a new GUI. Lets see how this puppy runs first.

I agree. I received, and loaded up Logic 8, 2 days ago. Nice application. Now there is 9, which means to get the latest version, I have to spend an added £159. So a £312 application becomes a £471 application in the space of two days. Illogical and not a good customer service. Surely there must be some easy way of upgrading without the extra outlay. I don't mind paying for upgrades after a decent period, but 2 days seems a little insane to me, or am I missing something. I am glad there is a forum such as this, but would be gladder if it were more than a placebo.

I'm actually quite excited about Flex Time...at least by the video demonstrations here:

It does look interesting, but this feature is similar to features that have been in Live for several years. I feel like Flex or something similar should have been in Logic years ago. Perhaps that's why I am looking/hoping for more from the new version of Logic.

I feel a bit miffed about this as well... Here is my plight over the past month:

-July 1, 2009: Purchased Logic Studio upgrade from Express 8, install failed due to bad disc

-July 2, 2009: Returned as defective and received 2nd copy. Checked discs prior to install for damage, then installed. Install failed due to bad SuperDrive grooving concentric grooves around the disc like an old 45.

-July 3, 2009: Returned 2nd copy of Logic Studio and scheduled an AppleCare replacement of the SuperDrive for Monday, July 6. Received 3rd Copy of Logic Studio upgrade!

-July 6, 2009: Apple Store replaced SuperDrive and I installed Logic Studio with no issues that night.

-July 23, 2009 Logic Studio (Logic Pro 9) is released. Called Apple Customer Relations and was told that since it was opened, there would be no return, nor no discount on purchasing the $200 upgrade from Logic Studio (LP8). Currently waiting on decision from Apple Store about subsidizing the cost of the upgrade.

Nobody has been through more Logic-related issues in July than I have. Now that this announcement has been made, this has definitely taken the cake.
