iTunes trojan: Small.BOG!!

Just encountered the same problem. Was using iTunes fine earlier on today and now this.

Turned my computer on for the first time today and AVG said the same virus was infecting itunes.dll

Windows 7 RC

I had this update show up a few nights ago and was also shocked to see AVG find SOOO many so called infections. Not wanting to use iTunes until I can confirm that everything is actually ok!

Same here, AVG detected small.BOG, itunes appears to be dead, early days yet, guess I'll have to wait and see what Apple will do about it. some reassurance in that at I'm not alone

I just downloaded itunes and had avg scan the executable. It says 99 files in it have the small.bog trojan

My Google search brought me here. I signed up just to say I got this same error just now and I am careful about software so I too have to think it's a false positive. Or Apple updated and is give out free Trojans. 😉

same thing just happened to me. have just tried installing the lastest version and avg finds the trojan horse during the installation.

Having the same problem. I'm using AVG also, uninstall/reinstall doesn't work, AVG says files inside the installer are infected.

*_THIS APPEARS TO BE AFFECTING AVG ANTI-VIRUS USERS ONLY_*. Unless someone NOT using AVG can duplicate this problem?

Yeah I am getting the same thing too, i just placed my iphone into the dock and a message popped up that multiple viruses were detected with the name small.bog in it and they were all related to Itunes. AVG is the one that detected it, I did a full scan using Malwarebytes and that didnt find anything at all.

I have no idea whats going on, but until i do I am completely uninstalling Itunes.

Just updated definitions on my other computer (long standing itunes 8.2.0 was OK) and then AVG started flipping out the same way. F3N1X85's workaround seems to be the ticket for now. Definitely go to Resident Shield -> Manage Exceptions, and add path for C:\Program Files\iPod and C:\Program Files\iTunes directories. AVG will certianly have to take a look at this, it seemed to start being a problem right after today's definitions update. (7/24/09)

I've got the same problem now. Scanning and it says 104 infected files.

I clicked on itunes and it said I was missing vital files and I needed to reinstall to be able to use it again. And then the AVG resident shield popped up and said it was a virus, so I don't think the problem's with AVG.

One more victim! I also think it's a false alert
