In reply to David I do think that there should be a form or email address to contact hosts directly. Starting a new thread for each request is kind of a kludge.

As it is, maybe one in twelve new topics to this forum completely ignores the big red 'read before posting' notice & is clearly not feedback about Discussions. Of the remainder, maybe 60 to 75% ask questions that anyone who reads the Terms of Use & the announcements can answer. It is common for new Discussions users to believe Discussions is some sort of direct link to Apple support personnel even though the root level Discussions page clearly explains what it is for. In this forum, maybe 75% of the topics specifically requesting host intervention don't require it, usually because it is a request for something like changing an alias that can't be done (which anyone bothering to read the announcements would discover) or to report a post as in appropriate (which anyone reaching level 2 can do directly from the page with the post).

The point of all these assorted observations is that if there was a way to email the hosts directly, they would receive massive numbers of them, almost all of which would be about something unrelated to a request only the hosts could or should deal with privately, regardless of how carefully or clearly any notice was worded about the appropriate use of that form of contact. If the hosts had to deal with this on an email by email basis, they would have little time for anything else, including bona fide requests like yours.

I agree with you 100%.

The only issue I see and included in my direct email back to Eric was that a person could watch these forums for people saying "Could you please remove my address that I posted.." or "Could you delete this piece of private information from this post.." and then in the time it takes for a host to respond go and grab that information. Even if the person doesn't post a direct link to the post they are referencing a quick search would show any posts that the person has made. Of course even a form or email directly for changes/corrections to posts would as you said get used for everything but since people don't read. I spent a good hour looking around for the correct way to get a post changed before I settled on posting in this forum, since that seemed like that was the only "correct" way. I moderate on other forums and I know how this can be a pain, and I can imagine with the number of people that traffic this site it to be much worse.

Hi Chris!

Once an  Discussions member achieves Level 2 status by earning 150 points, the ability to communicate a request to the hosts becomes available.

A Report this post tab is present in each Thread entry.
Although a Host will generally not personally communicate, the issue reported is dealt with quite quickly & efficiently.

EDIT: You are 5 pts away from Level 2! Congratulations!
