Thanx bro! Was about to go back to the store and complain... just got the iPhone yesterday and it f´d out today..

However, does that mean i shouldnt update the iPhone in iTunes? (as that´s what caused it...)

This got my iPhone working again. After almost having my brain explode out of my skull in anger these two little programs worked. But.

When I go to try update it crashes all over again. I think my iPhone 3Gs is destined to never update. Yes my iTunes is up to date.

The instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275 ask you to try doing the restore as a different user. This is a round about way of telling you the iPhone2,<version>_Restore.ipsw file is corrupt.

Try closing iTunes, renaming this file, and restarting iTunes. This will force a new copy of ipsw to be downloaded & hopefully get your phone restored. Worked for me.

iPhone: ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
iPod touch: ~/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates (The tilde "~" represents your Home directory.)

Windows XP
