iPhone 3gs 3.0.1 Apps Crash on startup

I upgraded my iPhone 3gs to the newest firmware 3.0.1 earlier this week. Everything seemed to go well until I tried to launch my USA Today app and it crashed. I tried a few more apps and they all crashed too. I figured no big deal I will just back up and restore the phone and things will be fine. I ran the restore and then I sync'd my apps back on and the problem is still the same. Native apps work fine like Safari and Stocks but all third party apps crash on start up. I poked around and everyones advice was to restore. If anyone has another suggestion short of going to the Genius Bar(can't make it there until atleast Saturday) I would appreciate it! Thanks in advance.

Just did another restore and restored my contacts but did not sync my apps but instead downloaded and reinstalled them from iTunes and still no luck. Same problem as before. Everytime I touch an app it starts then immediately closes. I really don't want to try to set it up as a new phone because then I would have to go back and re-enter all my contacts and favorites. It's looking more and more that will have to be my path. I just hope that it works.

Hello everyone...

I seem to be the victim of the same problem and i can assure you i have personally tried all the advice on this page and my situation has not improved, luckily for me all my apps werre free apps, if i had to pay for them i would be ****** right about now..

When i syn with my pc i get the message that reads "some of the apps installed will not be installed on your iphoine because you do not have authorization on this pc"....so i loose the apps i had on the iphone in the first place and loose apps on my pc too, i believe it is problems with the new software upgrade i did, btw it also mised up my iphone app icons too which was annoying..

1)does anyone with specific problems know a solution apart from restoruing to default??
2)if this is a software update prob y is it being allowed?
3)are all update users having this prob of apps not starting up?

I've been having this problem too. I read somewhere that installing any new app (not even reinstalling one you already have) fixes the bug, and it works for me. Unfortunately, it's now happened five times in the last three days on my brand new iPhone, and I'm getting really sick of having to do this almost every time I want to use Twitterrific or open up Stanza.

Any word of a more permanent fix?

Add me to the list of people with this problem. The phone was working fine before the update but afterward, not one non-Apple application would launch. I tried uninstalling one program and reinstalling it - no dice. I'm currently in the middle of a restore and from what I read in this thread, this will be a huge waste of time, keeping me up late on a work night. **** it, Apple.

Nothing fixed this problem for me.

32GB 3GS.
Tried a Restore (went back to 3.0.1).
Tried removing and adding an app back.
Tried removing and re-downloading an app.
Tried a hard reset of the phone (power and home. keep holding until it turns off).
Tried to remove ALL third party apps and then installed one.
Tried to de-authorize and then reauthorize the Mac.

Has anyone got a new phone and then successfully restored from a 3.0.1 backup? I would prefer to keep my phone then to go and get a new one.

I too am having the same issue. However I thought it was my fault. When taking pictures (before the update) the camera would not save them. You could see the picture in the icon but you could not view it. This lead me to update my phone. During the update my computer crashed (Thanks Wondows) causing me to have to restore my iPhone. After the update was installed I could not restore it from my backup and instead it did a full manufacturer restore. So 3 hours later I started the synch to get my apps back on already knowing that I would have to reorganize them since they are now in alphabetical order. Only when I went to open one it would not open. My phone had the complete restore (not by choice) and I have tried the suggestions of uninstalling one app AND I downwloaded a free one and still no luck. Looks like this is not just a flaw but a HUGE screwup and it needs to be fixed soon. Perhaps version 3.0.2 should be developped and released

Well so far I have tried all the advice you guys have given and still nothing has worked. I think the solution for now might be for me to go back to the 3.0.0 firmware. Though I am sorry for the problems everyone else is having I am glad that I'm not alone with the problem. I guess I will try the deauthorizing and reauthorizing thing to see if that helps. Will post back with the results. Next step for me will be a trip to the Genius Bar tomorrow.
