"The backup disk image could not be mounted" - What do I do?
Hi - After faultless use for the last 3 months - over the last few days I have been getting the error message "The backup disk image could not be mounted" accompanied by an exclamation mark in the menu bar icon and a red failed in the system prefrences. Nothing has changed - ac restarting both mac and time capsule. Do I erase the time capsule and start again? Any suggestions. Can't seem to get this working again. Thanks as always.

Gwyn, like countless others I spent several days trying to troubleshoot this problem. Nothing worked until I read your link to the Mozy issue. I updated to the new Mozy version, 1.4.3, and it solved the problem.
As frustrated as I am with Mozy's utter incompetence, I wanted to thank you for sharing the solution. Without that tip I'd still be struggling.
My ** just completed 115 GB this AM. We will see how long it lasts.
I might add one piece of advice (that I should have done before I started the **): Use the option in Disk Utility to "Erase Free Space" on Time Capsule, then start the backup. Or perhaps use another utility to perform a "Surface Scan" to uncover any hidden bad blocks on TC.
