I've just installed the 4870 on my Mac Pro 1.1 and all seems well except for one minor glitch. The minidisplay port is going into a VGA adaptor to feed a 12 year old Viewsonics CRT at 1024 x768 at 85Hz. The other DVI port is feeding another VGA adaptor going to a second matching Viewsonics CRT.

Everything seems fine...other than I get a subtle rolling bar (mostly noticeable on white backgrounds) traveling upwards on one monitor and downwards on the other.

I increased the refresh rate to 90Hz which shrank the both display sizes a bit but the increased refresh rate did eliminate the roll bar. I have the latest 10.6.4 as well as the recent Graphics software update.

I plan on getting the new Apple 27" that takes the mini-Display port in September.

But has anyone else run into the roll bar issue...or perhaps it's only confined to running the outputs through VGA adaptors and into older dinosaur CRTS. Perhaps when I get a the new Apple LCD it will not be an issue at all...though I would love to hear from others that may have had the problem and how they dealt with it.

Thanks, John
