AT&T 3G Option wireless USB and globetrotter connect

I have the AT&T 3G option wireless USB and Globetrotter connect software. The software will launch and run under 10.6 but it cant find the 3G USB Option modem? It all works fine under leopard.

Does anyone have any 3G comminucation to 10.6? we need a way to connect to the 3G network under 10.6?

Thanks this worked for me with an Option322 card on a Unibody 13" MB Pro and Snow Leopard 10.6.

More data to clarify:
I have five icons in Network: Icon322 App, WAN, Control, Diag and Modem. The instructions only work for Icon322 App. I tried Modem first incorrectly. Do I need the other icons? I will try to delete them after I post this. 🙂

edit: I removed the other icons while the connection was live with no problems. Then I disconnected, unplugged the Option322, re-inserted and connected again with no problems. Looks like Icon322 App is all that is needed.

I love that I don't need GlobeTrotter software and that I can now use Wifi Internet Sharing to my iPhone since OS 3.1 broke tethering.

Alangsam:
Hi. Maybe 6 months old. It was 4.22 or similar, flash update was to 4.4 or similar.
I fire the card up from network preferences - not sure if the new SL Option software does anything. I restored the old GlobeTrotter software but using Network Prefs seems to do the trick, and the old software doesn't recognize the card.

The card worked under parallels (but was slow and kept freezing yesterday) so hopefully the new flash works better - so far, no problems.

Now it is 4.4, it was 4.2.x or similar. The .exe is Superfire_4.4.0-commercial.exe
As I use the card for Vista, XP and OS X (all on Mac) I upgraded it.
I have a feeling that AT&T have changed something on their system, and this impacted performance regardless of the OS, but 10.6 made the old drivers incompatible: two issues at the same time (my guess).

Thanks MJP123. That did the trick. I uninstalled the Launch2net (3rd party software), and had to use Appzapper to rid myself of it. Snow Leopard would not even allow the software to run the uninstaller. Currently, my account name still reads ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM. I noted where you removed the GPRS. Should I removed the .COM also? That is, in order to obtain the faster speed.

Thanks again. You saved me from a gin and prozac tonic.

NOTE: This does not work with the Globetrotter Connect program. It does work with the Snow Leopard driver.

With the AT&T card connected, in the Sharing icon in System Preferences I choose "Share your connection from: Icon322 App. To computers using: Airport (checked).

@alangsam: I received a letter from AT&T regarding the 4.4 firmware. It said to download the latest firmware from: http://support.option.com/quicksilver/

Currently that's v4.4, 8/17/2009 (firmware timestamp: 2009-07-27 17:00), software version 99.39.0

At the site above, there's a link to a PC EXE file called Superfire_4.4.0-commercial.exe which has the firmware in it. Unfortunately the site also says there's no Mac OS X updater--yet.

If you have VMware Fusion or a physical Windows-based PC and install the AT&T Communication Manager with the card, the firmware version is in Tools > Diagnostics > GSM info... > Device tab.

Or, in Superfire_4.4.0, (requires AT&T Comm Mgr), the "Ready to Start" screen has the firmware version with the timestamp and the software version.

Unforunately the OS X System Profiler does not give a lot info about the card:
GlobeTrotter Icon322:
Product ID: 0xd033
Vendor ID: 0x0af0 (Option NV)
Version: 1.00
Serial Number: Serial Number
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Option Wireless Technology
Location ID: 0x24100000
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 500

For all of you who have a Option Wireless GT Ultra Express and have updated to Snow Leopard. Option support called me back and said to try the download for the Quicksilver modem at http://www.support.option.com/att. After removing all Option drivers and Globetrotter software I installed the software for the Quicksilver USB modem and all works real good just like it did under Leopard. Hope this helps.

That link doesn't work for me.

I also noticed that for whatever reason, after 10.6 update I got mine working great with the instructions here, but did the 10.6.1 update this weekend and now it's not working again. What's odd, is I tried another card that was purchased at the same time as mine, and with mine it gives the option of the 'GT... Modem", but the second card doesn't, gives all the other options except that one. Anyone seen this?

Sorry my original post had the wrong link.

Make sure before installing the Quicksilver Modem software that you remove any file that begin with Option from the MacIntosh HD/System/Library/Extensions folder. I to have upgraded to 10.6.1 but have had no problems using the GT Ultra Express yet.
Hope this helps.
