AT&T 3G Option wireless USB and globetrotter connect

I have the AT&T 3G option wireless USB and Globetrotter connect software. The software will launch and run under 10.6 but it cant find the 3G USB Option modem? It all works fine under leopard.

Does anyone have any 3G comminucation to 10.6? we need a way to connect to the 3G network under 10.6?

well its sad that ATT is completely dense on Mac Support - period even if they are the number 1 seller of apple smartphones. its cool that Option got this out so quickly and that we can now use it with the built in mac networking support.

in the long run tethering to the iPhone is going to be the answer as you wont need kernel level drivers however in the interim weve all paid for these dongles and our life depends on them 🙂

I downloaded the option software and and configured the Icon322 App with the information in this discussion creating a new location for the modem. One thing that was confusing for me is that there were 4 other icon 322 items showing up in my network preferences. I think this is leftover from earlier install. Just configure the Icon322 App and it should work fine. Just press connect once you have all the info inputted and saved.

I'm trying to connect to the internet using GT HSUPA App. I have ISP@CINGULAR.COM as the account name and CINGULAR1 as the password. I've selected Option N.V. as the modem. My status just stays as "Connecting" and then fails with a box saying "Network Connection. An error occurred with the modem. Try reconnecting. If the problem continues, verify your settings and contact your Administrator." This is with the new driver. I am getting the flashing blue 3g light, so it looks like the card is on the network or at least detecting it.

Any ideas?? Thanks!

FYI:

I was on the phone with Option for about an hour yesterday. The tech walked through a lot of things on my computer and was perplexed about what was happening. (i.e. there was a GT HSUPA APP, GT HSUPA WAN, GT HSUPA DIAG, but no GT HSUPA MODEM that appeared in the left box of the network setup screen.).

Anyway, they actually called me back a few times on my cell (wow) while they were working on the problem and called me back at the end of the business day to say they hadn't found a solution yet and they are working on it and will call me in the next business day or two. I tend to believe them based on their conduct yesterday.

Obviously this driver they posted (they stated it was only a beta driver and not the finalized one) has problems with certain cards/machines/configurations/etc and I really do believe they're working on the problem.

When I hear from them next and if there's a solution I'll post it.
