AT&T 3G Option wireless USB and globetrotter connect

I have the AT&T 3G option wireless USB and Globetrotter connect software. The software will launch and run under 10.6 but it cant find the 3G USB Option modem? It all works fine under leopard.

Does anyone have any 3G comminucation to 10.6? we need a way to connect to the 3G network under 10.6?

There are new 10.6 drivers out right now on the option software page....

Just go to the Option page a type in your Serial or Imei number! Then you will be redirected to the right hardware. Just leave your provider software as it is and just refresh the driver.
It works 100% for me and a few other German Vodafone, T-Mobile customers.

Welcome to the Option Usb Driver installer. You will be guided through the steps necessary to install this software.

Please leave your Option card unplugged during driver installation. After the installation you can plug the card back in.
You don't have to reboot the system.

This is the driver for the following cards from Option International:
• GlobeTrotter HSDPA 7.2
• GlobeTrotter GT MAX 7.2
• GlobeTrotter Express 7.2
• GlobeTrotter GT MAX HSUPA
• GlobeTrotter Express HSUPA
• Icon 322
• Icon 225
• Icon 031

I had the same issues using an option quick silver. I deleted all the old att apps. I deleted any network profiles that were related to the att service.

Then I installed the latest option driver. Then I plugged in my usb card and the opened up my network preferences. I added the user name and password people were using in this forum in the option app network preference.

Hit connect and it WORKS. I'm connected ot the service now and it hasnt skipped a beat. SO MUCH better the using the at&t software in the first place.

I just tried installing the updated driver for Snow Leopard. Didn't work for me. 😟 Here's the message:

+*System extension cannot be used*+

+*The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/Option72.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update.*+

Anyone else seen this?

BTW, going to the support page with my serial number worked, but using IMEI didn't.

I have an Option 225 and I also have the same error:

System extension cannot be used

The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/Option72.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update.

I think the package is incorrect on the Option website? Does anyone have the package that works for their Option 225?

The filename of the zip is also suspicious...

I am also getting the error:

"System extension cannot be used; The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/Option72.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update."

Tried reinstalling, restarting. Did not work. Deleted the files manually, reinstalled; I received the same message.

Using 322. Not working yet.

Downloaded the new drivers. Still cannot get on. I get the following message:
"The 'Icon322 WAN' network interface has not been set up. To set up this interface, use Network Preferences."

First called Option. They first claimed the new drivers had not been posted yet. Then I gave them their own web address to look at and they stopped saying that. Then they told me that ATT needs to help me set up those network preferences. At this point, been on the phone for 40 minutes with ATT... not a clue over there.

Anyone successfully on with the icon322 (ATT USB Quicksilver) after downloading the drivers and can assist, I would be grateful.

Followed #alangsam's advice and clicked 'Option NV' in the Advance Tab under Vendor, hit Connect and it worked! Thanks, man!

I am using the 322, and DID receive the error upon install saying the driver was not installed properly. I am using the 'Icon322 App' connection in my Network pane (in System Preferences). Globetrotter Connect still does not recognize the card, so I am connecting via the Network pane by clicking the Connect button at the bottom of the form.

In the form, I have added my own phone number, and the username: ISP@CINGULAR.COM and the password CINGULAR1 as instructed by others in this forum.

I am entering this post via G3! Thank you all for posting; it took some pecking around, but it is up and running with the new drivers despite the 'fail' warning.

Ah, the power of collective thinking. I added Snowydancer's advice to the advice I received from several others of you here and now have my Quicksilver working.

To sum up all the steps that I took to get this working:

First, download the new drivers (and ignore the warning you receive when installing). Second, plug in the Quicksilver and wait for it to turn green. If the Mac doesn't recognize it (it didn't for me), go to Network Preferences and click the "+" button on the left side and choose Icon322 App. Put in your telephone number; under account name, put ISP@CINGULAR.COM, and under Password put CINGULAR1. Click the Advanced tab and, in the Modem part, under vendor, select Option N.V. Press OK and then press Apply. Then you can press Connect and it should work.
