I have installed snow leopard and my huawei e160 modem has stopped working. I have been using the vendor software to reinstall. Would it be better to reinstall the driver and setup manually? I need internet access on the go for work.
I tested the E220 in snow leopard and it works perfectly. However I just installed the driver and used the built in network preferences to setup the connection and not any 3rd party software provided by the network provider.
I have the exact same problem - I can't connect (and the Mac can't see the USB modem).
I am using a Huawei E1550 modem and have tried following your description - but the result is the same; the Huawei Modem does not show up in the network settings a possible profile.
I have tried reinstalling and restarting several times but the result is the same.
When I start the Mobile Partner software (11.302.04) I get an error the the modem can't be found.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - Any suggestions on what to do to be able to see and select the modem in the left side of network settings?
I have E220 on my MBP. After install vendor software did´nt work. Since I already had drivers installed I made a manual setup within Network prefs. Worked at once and I think it´s evena better solution then using the app from Huawei.
I agree, I was having the exact same problems with my E160. You just need to bypass any vendor software (in my case it's Virgin Mobile Home) and just make sure you have the following settings in Network settings in System Prefs:
Make sure your device is added as Huawei Mobile,
Telephone Number: *99#
Leave account name and password blank.
Go to advanced:
Change Vendor to Other
Model: Huawei Mobile Connect - 3G Modem
Dial mode: Ignore dial tone when dialing
Don't attempt to launch any vendor software, in many cases it just gives a spinning beach ball of death, or at worst produces a kernel panic.
Guys...I have a Huawei datacard co-branded TIM (Italian Mobile operator) model E1692. When I installed 10.6 it was working, but after a while I received a message error "Failed to find the device". I installed and unistalled the software thousends of times but with no good results. I've also tried to install the driver only without the TIM's software but nothing...
I was wondering how to be sure I completly unistall the driver...I did that by running the unistall program but I'm not sure it has deleted everything.
I've read above the problem could be a kind of conflict caused by the 64 bit...is there any way of running this driver at 32bit?
Not sure what it looked like before in system prefs but now it has a phone icon next to it. Does it mean that it is seeing it as dial-up speed not adsl??
