Aperture 2.1.4 Crashing after Snow Leopard Upgrade

Hi All

Upgraded to Snow Leopard today and then shortly after a successful upgrade, also upgraded Aperture to 2.1.4 via software update.

It now crashes almost immediately after launch giving the output below. It would seem that the "library not loaded" part would be the cause.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Will

I had the same problem, and found an easier way to install the missing PluginManager.framework - you can download a separate installer here:

It says it's from 2008, some time ago - but there doesn't seem to be a newer one, and Aperture seems to run just fine with it - I've only tried one editing plugin (Hydra) so far, but it seems to work.

I had to install via Pacifist; but this seemed to have worked for me, too. i say "seemed to," though, because while the crash is fixed, my serial number was zapped somewhere along the way. Odd. I guess I'll have to head to the office today to track that down. 😟

I am having a different problem, but I wonder if it may have a similar solution. since upgrading to SL my MacBook Pro is running faster online and off except for working in Aperture. It is much slower in general and is also constantly rebuilding thumbnails.

I keep my library on my 1TB Time Capsule and have been working over a wireless network. This had worked well before the upgrade. I then tried using the ethernet connection. This sped things up a little, but the thumbnails are still constantly rebuilding.

Any suggestions?

Okay, still having some plug-in caused crashed (same error as noted above) except it only happens with Nik plug-ins. Noise ninja, Topaz and Photomax all work fine.

Exception Type: EXC BADACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN PROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000000

I've replaced the framework/plug-ins folder, reinstalled Aperture, reinstalled the latest Nik plug-ins. Restarts after each. I've removed the plug-in preferences as well.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Hagen

This is what worked for me:

Going on what I've seen around the internet that duplicate Arial fonts could cause the Nik plugins to crash I opened up 'font book' and took care of the dups. That still didn't fix the problem.

Then going on the assumption that the Arial font was still the issue I started looking at the versions of Arial on my computer. All Arial files seemed kind of old. Using an application called Pacifist I looked at the Snow Leopard installer package. Doing a search for Arial I found that the version numbers were different.

Using Pacifist I copied the newer versions of the Arial font to my computer and removed the older versions. There are a few places were fonts live on your Mac. Make sure you find out were your current version of Arial lives, remove and replace with the one from the SL installer.

My Nik plugins now work.

I sent this info off to Nik too. Hopefully this helps you out. Good luck!
