Aperture 2.1.4 Crashing after Snow Leopard Upgrade

Hi All

Upgraded to Snow Leopard today and then shortly after a successful upgrade, also upgraded Aperture to 2.1.4 via software update.

It now crashes almost immediately after launch giving the output below. It would seem that the "library not loaded" part would be the cause.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would try removing any Aperture plug-ins that might be installed, and see if that helps. They can be found in ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins (wherein ~ is your user account).

You need to re-install Aperture and then update it again. It’s missing a bit of itself - specifically the Plugin Manager:

Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager
Referenced from: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture
Reason: image not found

Remember to remove the receipts before re-installing.

I agree with Devlin. I have SL installed and Aperture 2.1.4. Both are compatible on my system. I have several plug-ins installed as well (mostly from NIK) and have experienced no problems.

I do too, actually. I have several plug-ins installed and my copy of Aperture is working fine on Snow Leopard. I think Devlin's got the solution.

I'm getting the exact same errors as the original poster. I've removed all the plugins and preferences which doesn't fix the problem.

I guess I'll try reinstalling the entire application but it stinks that I have to. I didn't expect to have problems with Aperture during my SL update so I was a little surprised/disappointed.

With this single exception, my Snow Leopard upgrade has gone smoothly.

I had this same error message, removed Aperture and all receipts, re-installed Aperture 2.0 from the CD, and installed the upgrade to 2.1.4. When I launched it, I got the same error message. I have no plug-ins installed. Any other ideas?

Edit: Also, I upgraded my MacBook Air to Snow Leopard and had no problem, but on my Mac Pro where I'm having the problem, I installed Snow Leopard on a clean drive and transferred all of my data from a Time Machine back-up.

I too have the same crash-removed preferences and receipts, have no plug-ins and reinstalled from the Aperature 2 cd and updated. It still crashes after initially displaying aperature window for about 5-10 seconds. I have a MacBook Pro 2.8 GHZ

Error report detail includes the following:

I restored the directory from a Time Machine backup.

/Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework will probably be missing from your Mac after the Snow Leopard upgrade. I restored it.

I'm not sure what problems this might cause other apps, but Aperture 2 works now.

Thanks, hopefully the time machine back-up will be able to correct that, although it is a little funny that the 10.6 install today would cause a data issue from yesterday on 10.5.x to today on 10.6?

But I confirmed your diagnosis by restarting Aperature with the "option" key and creating a test library. Aperature works fine now.

Fix confirmed. Thanks Pyrrho. It hadn't occurred to me to check if the framework indicated in the dump could, in fact, be completely missing.

Rather odd. I hope putting it back doesn't break something else that uses plugins. (Safari, QuickTime?)

Pardon the dumb question - but what receipts are you talking about? I know where my plug-ins and plists are, but not any "receipts".
