Since Snow Leopard Unable to turn off Airport on MBP

Has anyone else got this problem. Since doing the upgrade I can't turn off my MBP Airport. It's working fine in all other respects, and at least it's fixed on and not off, but it's still a bit annoying.

Hi folks,

I've been pretty much in the background with this problem, i had the same issue BUT I COULDNT CONNECT FULL STOP! To ANY network! I was at the end of the teather and about to pay the £35 JUST TO SPEAK TO AN APPLE EXPERT! (What a joke!) I echo what people have said about this community, it is a life saver!! seeing as it's a nightmare to speak to anyone with any apple knowledge!! I just feel sorry for the people with this problem who don't know of this amazing community, with such a simple solution Apple had better hurry up with a solution!!

Hey Joe. Hope all is well in Manchester.
What's this about £35 to speak with someone! That's crazy. Even if you're out of warranty you can go the Apple Store in New Cannon Street Mall and visit the Genius Bar for free. You would only be charged if they had to complete repairs, not for advice or system settings checks.
Hope you're all up and running again now though.
Keep smiling.

I had the same problem as the people here described. In my case I was unable to switch on the airport. What helped for me as a workaround was creating a new location/environment and there adding the wireless network once more. Worked like a charm, although it is somewhat of a workaround. 🙂

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I noticed the problem with my iMac when all of a sudden I had no WiFi connectivity. I thought I had tried just about everything. Then, I created a new location (called it "Home"), and voila! The Airport connected and started working right away.

Thanks again! I hope I can pay this favor back someday.

I had the same problem but I fixed it. Here is the solution:
delete the following files:
1- com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
2- NetworkInterfaces.plist
3- preferences.plist

from the folder /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

and then restart ... problem solved !!

I tried that myself and I am able to turn on and off the AirPort whenever I want.

Since Apple didn't solve the problem yet ... I did my research and found that solution from another website.

Enjoy your Mac folks !!
