I have not upgraded yet. Does anyone know if the Brother control panel still works? I use the scanning feature everyday for signed documents and the like and really need that. I have a 7820N set-up through router and connected wirelessly to computers. I can scan from it and obviously print. Thanks
Late 2008 Macbook,
Mac OS X (10.5.8),
2,4 GHZ, 4GB RAM, 320 GB HD
As long as I continued to use a wireless connection between the computer and the 7820N, I did not find the "scan/print" buttons in the Snow Leopard "Print & Fax" preference panel. Once I connected them by USB, the "scan" and "print" buttons appeared. Brother and Apple apparently have not worked out the way to make this device work fully under 10.6
I understand now... my MFC is on the wireless network. Not a big problem cos I installed the latest twain drivers from Brother and control center came back. What irks me is that walk-up scan to my Mac is only working if I turn off the OS's firewall, but stopped when I turn it on. There isn't any dialog box that ask me to grant access for the incoming data at all, so I do not know which app/service to add to the allowed list in the firewall preferences. Any ideas?
Followed your advice. I was disappointed that I did not have access to Brother Control Panel. I scan documents a lot. After discovering Preview has a scanning function, I was thrilled. It works a lot faster and better than control panel. Thanks for the info.
