Audio Tracks in Timeline

While working in Final Cut Pro 4, some of my audio tracks in the timeline have a thin colored bar running along the entire top of the clip. Some clips have a lavender/light purple bar, some have a green bar, some have no bar at all. Some clips have a lavendar bar, which then changes to green.

What do these bars mean?! Nowhere in any of the Final Cut Pro manuals or in a third party book I own can I find even a mention of these color bars. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

X, I thought you were a teacher...

An excoriation is an erosion or destruction of the skin by mechanical insult like a scratch or abrasion of the skin. This can happen quickly like with a scratch or slowly with rubbing. It's commonly seen in other skin disorders causing itching/pruritis: dry skin, dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, scabies, etc. It can been a symptom of other illnesses like liver failure where pruritis is caused by increases of bilirubin

So Bill, you're not a compulsive skin picker are you?!

I posted a couple of weeks ago with this same issue, but what I have noticed is that sometimes the stereo clips turn to mono. It is most bizarre!

I understand all that has been written in the forum on this topic, but am still curious as to what is going on. All the audio issues I am having are with 48k audio files, created within FCP, and from CD's (converted from 44.1 to 48). As with Bill, some files don't have any colour, but some have green, some have purple, and some have a mixture.

Thanks everyone,

Tim

So did you determine that the loss of stereo was causing the colored bar? That seems odd. I'm assuming you've read through this new thread already, but did you check the sample rate to see if it's exactly the rate of your sequence? I had a strange problem with some of the rates being a little off, creating the colored bar. If you go to the link I posted above, you'll find a good article on the subject.

Regardless of what is causing the colored bar, I still can not figure out why the bar has a different color in some clips, or even within the same clip...

Bill
