Apple Remote Play/Pause button

Since installing Snow Leopard I've noticed that the Play/Pause button opens iTunes automatically, this is annoying, I don't use iTunes I prefer to use an app called Ecoute, it's less of a memory-hog, but tis app is pointless if I open itUnes very time I want to pause a song!! Does anybody know how to disable this feature?

P.s: I've found that the Play/Pause button on my keyboard (F8) does the same thing grr! this is annoying!

I also put a complaint about this earlier in the thread, but wanted to state...
If it is a feature, I don't mind it at all, it's a cool feature to be able to play iTunes from the little remote from the other side of the room, but I think the big complaint here is that it should be able to distinguish when you are watching a DVD or just using any media player and should stop that function which in turn makes it a bug not a feature. Again, it is EXTREMELY annoying to be watching a movie on your couch, put it on pause, then play again and iTunes starts blasting away! Please apple fix this thing.

I was gigging this evening using Mainstage 2, using the built-in audio output on my macbook pro. I've used Mainstage many times in this way, but this was the first time I'd used the remote under Snow Leopard. Imagine my joy on pressing the +/- buttons on the remote (which previously cycled through patches if I remember correctly) and getting the lovely Apple volume click coming through a 4k rig. Luckily only at the soundcheck, and the left and right remote buttons now perform the required function, but in the semi-darkness of a stage I really do not appreciate this extra danger! Apple seriously need to sort this out...

This really ****** me off. I can't believe Apple ever suggested that this is a "feature".

Snow Leopard has been a disaster for me, I've been following this idiotic release cleaning up these types of messes since I installed the **** thing. When I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard it was brilliant, there were bugs yes, but not these kinds of issues.

Apple is really making a case for me to go back to a Linux/Windows dualboot setup. I bought this configuration to alleviate issues, not complicate and engorge my troubles.

Folks, OK We're all frustrated by this bug/feature, but We're seeing a lot of posts along the lines of "Apple please fix this" If people actually bothered to read ALL of the thread before they post they would see a number of posts saying THIS IS ONLY A PEER TO PEER THREAD - APPLE DONT PARTICIPATE IN THESE THREADS.

So sticking a "please fix this" message on this forum does nothing, you are asking in completely the wrong place. If you really want them to take notice, then report it directly to apple, we need as many people as we can to raise it as a problem with Apple support. The more people complain then the more their support may take note.
