Quicktime Pro

I used to have Quicktime Pro. Can anyone tell me where it went since installing 10.6?

When I left QT 7 in the utilities folder, I was not able to reset it as the default application. File info seemingly would allow me to do that, but until I moved it to the application folder, every video file I double clicked opened in QT X.

Now when I double click, the files open in QT 7; however, I now have an annoying pop up that warns if a file was recently downloaded from the internet, and whether I really want to open it. I don't recall getting that message before.

I left mine in Utilities and I can set video files to open with it via Get Info. It works. Also works with the "Change All" button.

That "feature" was added in 10.5 (Leopard). If you open the file once in the administrator account it shouldn't ask again for that file.

I spoke too soon.

Although I was able to reset QT 7 as the default app to open .wmv files and .mpg files, I have not been able to do that for .mov files. I go through all the same steps, i.e., right click the .mov file, select "get info", in "Open with:" select QT Player 7, check the "always open with" box, click on "add", then click on the "Change All" button in the file info window.

After going through all that, when I right click on the very .mov file I just (thought) I changed to open with QT 7, "Open with:" shows QuickTime Player Launcher (QT 10) again!

However, if I do not click on "Change All", but do all the other steps, file info shows the file is set to open with QT 7, but only that .mov file. All the others are still set to open with QT 10.

Do I have to modify each .mov file individually?
