Photoshop CS4 crashes after Snow Leopard Upgrade

Most people I know have mac's and are heavy photoshop users, you think Apple would make sure that one of the biggest and most popular programs for a mac would work properly! Saving, opening and editing all crash it, its very unstable now. Hello, I make my living as a graphic designer and NEED my photoshop to work! this is completely ridiculous for it not to work on both of my machines.

Apple needs to get back into the mindset of having stable systems and OS not all the fun and fluff!!!

Anyone else having issues with photoshop?

CS4 crashes after snow leopard update.

Photoshop CS4 crashes during save, only save for web works sometimes.
Photoshop CS4 crashes when trying to open a PSD file, file size 20 megs, but it does open some other files
Photoshop CS4 de-activated version cue helped a bit, but still crashes

After Effects CS4 in import it crashes, I can't even import a small jpeg

My entire company is out of commission since we are a design shop.

APPLE ***? I TRUSTED YOU!!

now guess what I am doing? bootcamp > windows 7 > installing CS4 on windows NEVER thought I would say these words.

Apple Support: nothing we can do, try adobe
adobe support: nothing we can do, try apple

this is how it starts Apple, next thing you know you become the next Microsoft.

I read something about removing a particular font but that didn't work. It looks like we will just have to wait for a patch either from apple or adobe so until then i'm using photoshop elements which worked with no problems and also can use my windows machine (as I throw up). I think there's a 30 day trial on elements 6 for mac. the only bad part is there is no CMYK support on it.

I upgraded 3 Macs over the weekend, all with the CS4 Design Suite installed.

Not a single problem, in fact, it solved some problems with memory I was having, as in Adobe CS 4 not handling memory well. I have Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign open all day long and have less problems with Snow Leopard than with Leopard.

I initially had trouble with both PS CS3 and Aperture crashing. I realized Photoshop would get hung up reading the Color Settings and crash, so I pulled out some of the custom profiles I had in the Colorsync folder that were paper and monitor profiles, and this cleared up both CS3 and Aperture. Not sure if this pertains to anyone, but it's worth checking out.

Greetings,

CS4 works fine here, with Snow Leopard - no crashes or hangs yet, and I installed on the first day it was available. I use it all the time for my digital photo hobby.

Dump the .Plist files associated with CS4, throughout the system, and see if that helps. I just talked to a friend at a large Graphics house, and they just re-installed the CS4 suite due to some corrupt fonts, after Snow Leopard. It was some font that no one uses around there. They called Adobe, and that's what they told him.

After my Snow Leopard install, the suite has worked perfect, no corrupt fonts. You could also have some third party software causing issues. If you have any APE's, get rid of them - third party utilities and other enhancements are always a pain when upgrading, especially GROWL type stuff.

Cheers,
M.

looks like this is not Photoshop problem. i've tried Pixelmator (as alternative) - *the same crashes.*
and a lot of other apps crashes 90% time with *the same console errors* "+pointer being freed was not allocated+" when i trying to save some file (Photoshop, Pixelmator, Mail, Tweetie, Transmission) or upload file (jpg to imageshack, for example) through any browser (Safari/Firefox/Opera/Chrome).

sjam, can you please post a specific error from Console? not a full crash log.
we're looking for "+pointer being freed was not allocated+", it's the reason of all my (and not only my) problems. if you'll see the same in Console, maybe we need to find some intersections in our hardware/third party software configurations.

thanks.

I think I might have things working....original issue was opening and closing images crashed photoshop sometimes I got a crash report sometimes not and it would just shut down. My solutions were:
*Removed a font named Menlo from the HD fonts.
*Removed the adobe photoshop .plist file (users/library/preferences/com. adobe...)make sure when you trash it you EMPTY the trash.
*Then did a repair permissions
*Rebooted
and so far its working. also make sure you have the latest PS update should be 11.0.1
Hope this helps everyone out, and a quick thanks for everyones suggestions!
