Center mouse button clicks on spaces does not activate the space

Ok so let me try and explain this. I have a Mighty Mouse and just installed Snow Leopard last night. I have the trackball on my Mighty Mouse set so if it is clicked it will activate Spaces. Under Leopard I could click the trackball and then hover my mouse over the Space I wanted to bring forward and click again with the trackball to bring that Space to the front. Now under Snow Leopard, if I click with the trackball to try and bring the Space I am hovering over forward, it just brings forward the Space that was the current Space before I clicked the trackball. If I click with the left mouse button then Snow Leopard DOES bring forward the correct space.

Obviously this is quite a minor issue. My hand is just used to clicking the trackball again and if needs to it will get used to clicking the left mouse button instead. I am just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if anyone else has the same functionality in Snow Leopard or had the same functionality under Leopard with the Mighty Mouse (or any multi-button mouse for that matter).

Thanks.

Isn't this how it is supposed to be? You open a program by middle clicking
and select something by left (or right) clicking not by middle clicking again because that wil bring you back where you started.

I'm having this problem too.

I'm running SL 10.6.2 and I have a Targus AMB08US Bluetooth Mouse.

Button 4 and 5 should be programmable space Space and Expose. What I've noticed is I need to press button 4/5 AND press button 1 to get the function to work. Expose works but Space activates but doesn't switch the to the selected app. Very annoying - the cheaper MS mouse I just ditched did work properly...

Is it my mouse or Snow Leopard?

I am having a similar problem. When I did my most recent updates to OS X 10.6.2 a few weeks ago my ability to launch Spaces with Mouse Button 5 on an MS mouse simply stopped working.

Weirdly it started working again for a while after I completely disabled the function on that mouse button and then turned it on again a few days later, but now it is back to being broken again.

I can assign other things to Mouse Button 5 and they work, but I cannot assign spaces to that mouse button or any other one and get it to launch. It always worked fine on previous Snow Leopard loads and of course always worked under Leopard.

Hopefully Apple fixes this in the next update, it's very irritating!

Seeing the mouse button mapped to spaces issue here as well. Using Snow 10.6.2. Suddenly button 5 will not launch spaces on my Microsoft Mouse. Oddly, button 4 will still launch Expose. What makes this so frustrating is that using this feature becomes a part of one's work flow. I'm not sure Apple gets that. When you break someone's work flow it becomes most irritating. Hopefully Apple will fix this soon. (Or sooner than some of the bugs in Leopard got fixed.) 😟
