ClearWire/ Motorola USB modem for WiMax not working after upgrade

I upgraded to 10.6 yesterday and, overall, things went smoothly. However, my WiMax USB modem from ClearWire is no longer recognized by my MBP. Now, what's really interesting is that my partner has a black Macbook which does recognize the same modem. Her machine is about 3 months newer than mine but they are both early 2008 models. I'm thinking about doing a clean install (instead of the in situ upgrade) but I'm loath to do so. Has anyone been able to get ClearWire WiMax working? The modem itself is a Motorola USBw 25100.

Cheers
Adrienne

My Clear modem has been working with Snow Leopard 10.6.1. However, one day neither the Clear modem nor a Sprint modem would work on my MacBook. I did the following and the Clear modem has been working fine since:

1. Zapped PRAM.
2. Did safe boot.
3. Ran Onyx 2.1.1 (automation mode, everything selected).

You might also run the Clear Uninstaller that comes with the latest Clear Connection Manager, then re-install the Connection Manager.

I actually tried these three steps plus install and uninstall of connection manager the last night and it did not work.
The only change was that in addition to searching and disconnect, connect was flashing. The light on the dongle remained solid.

I looks to me a faulty driver which is surprising because Mac does not have that many configuration types.

Still not functioning for me either. If I manually run the uninstall, then install again, and then manually install the ketext, it works finds network and connects ONCE. Once you reboot, it will never recognize the network again. I'm getting on the phone with Clear and tell them how useless their USB modem is for Macs. For now I just hope they will discount a Clear Spot for those of us having the same problem.

I read these posts when considering to purchase CLEAR and wanted to let everyone know of my success. I downloaded and installed the latest software today from clear.com and proceeded to plug in my usb modem after install. It then did a hard freeze, gray screen and all. After reboot with it left plugged in the clear connection manager opened, I turned the airport off and I was online...

Hope this helps anyone looking at purchasing. I am very happy with the service in Atlanta.

I just bought a new MacBook with Snow Leapard 10.6.2 installed. I then downloaded the CLEAR Connection Manager for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard & 10.6 Snow Leopard For use with the CLEAR Motorola USBw 25100 Adapter Version 1.03.1033.0. I was having the exact same problems, mostly having some sort of authentication problem after it starts the connection process for the past few days. Today, I found this thread and tried things suggested and mine finally connected and works fine now. This is what I did, and in this order:

1. uninstalled Clear CM
2. Shut down the computer
3. Zapped PRAM
4. Shut Down the computer
5. Safe boot
6. Ran OynX
7. Installed Clear CM
8. Shut down the computer
9. connected my USB modem
10. bootup as normal
11. started the Clear CM software

after that it automated the connection and actually did connect. I then opened safari and browsed the net a bit. I then clicked the disconnect button in Clear CM, and reboot. Started Clear CM again and it connected. Hopefully its fixed on my machine...YAY!
