Wireless keyboard caps lock light not working

Hey, said it all in the title but here's the story...

Got home today and realized that the caps lock LED don't light up anymore. Has anyone else had similar problems? If so, how was your situation rectified?

The keyboard still works fine, don't think its a bad enough problem to have it replaced or be without it for ages. Could see if apple will allow a straight swap at the shop...

SOLVED

I discovered this morning I had the same problem, and I realized it could have happened after pairing my keyboard to mi iPhone 3GS.

I tried disconnecting, removing the batteries and reconnecting, but no luck. Finally I decided to remove my keyboard from my bluetooth devices after having removed the keyboard batteries for a few seconds. After this I had trouble re-pairing the keyboard to my iMac, since the bluetooth assistant did not find it.

Finally, I decided to restart my iMac and let it do the pairing on bootup. It found it straight away, paired immediately, and the CapsLock led was working again.

I've had the same problem constantly since I got my 27" Imac 18 months ago. To be honest I only ever notice when it DOES work now, I'm so used to it never lighting up. I don't take out the batteries or anything, I do switch it off and then on again at the power button which works fine to start it up again; but after it's been to sleep for a while, I get the same problem. Such a great computer and I love the keyboard but for something so minor it is irritating to deal deal with. I guess I'm lucky and not such a big typist as I'm usually doing graphics, but if I were to be typing a great deal I could imagine the frustration it could cause. Come on Apple, there's been a few errors of late, lets not slip into PC territory ha ha. Maybe OSX 10.7 (Lion) will fix the glitch?

Just got my iMac 27" last month, and I have the same problem. Thank you to this forum for giving me the

solution - I sure couldn't find anything on the Apple site. I just took the batteries out and put them back in as you all suggested, and so far the caps lock light is working. Obviously Lion did not fix the problem. Thanks for the help!

This has been ongoing since my first iMac in 2009, just turn the keypad off at the side and back on again, it then works fine 🙂 I have the newer style keyboard for Lion with my new iMac, not noticed if it does it yet though, but I cant see the firmware of the deyboard has canged, it did have one update a long time back but that did not cure it.

I know this this thread is quite old now, but I just thought I would add something to it as there seems to be something missing out of all these posts.

The CAPS lock LED light on the wireless keyboard stops working when you pair another device (such as if you use your iPhone 4S as a keyboard or mouse).

The easiest way to solve this is simply to access the Bluetooth menu find your keyboard and disconnect it (do not remove it just disconnect it) wait a few seconds and then tell your computer to reconnect to your keyboard.

so thats

  1. Locate the Bluetooth menu on the toolbar
  2. Find your keyboard in the Bluetooth menu
  3. Disconnect your keyboard (do not delete the device just disconnect it)
  4. Wait 10 seconds
  5. Reconnect your keyboard via the Bluetooth menu from the tool bar

This will solve the problem and the LED light will start to work again.
