HP Laserjet 4 M plus

I have the laserjet 4m plus plugged into the time capsule via a CAT5 cord and it worked fine in 10.5. Now I do not see the printer when I go to set it up. Does anyone know how to retrieve the IP address from the printer? Also which driver should I use? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i Mac, Mac OS X (10.6)

I have been in frustration mode for the better part of a month now since upgrading to Snow Leopard. SHAME ON APPLE for not making their software WORK the way they say it does. I nearly barfed when I read the part about printing being easier. I have an older HP 5si LaserJet that has worked well for me for several years now. In fact, I liked it so much that I bought a 2nd one when the first needed parts. At $100, I couldn't pass it up. My toner cartridges last close to 6 months, and I print a LOT being a musician and band leader.

Until I read Theresa Bracchi's excellent "How To" on her LaserJet 4 M plus... I was on the verge of giving up. I bought a family pack Snow Leopard, but dared not load it on any other machines until I figured out the problems, and there have been MANY! To think, I PAID Apple for all those weeks of frustration. Just very uncool.

Now, at first my Epson R280 printer worked fine. But even that one stopped working at some point in the last few days. I was really getting frustrated without a printer to go to.

I'll keep reading and see if anyone else has had problems with their USB Epson's, but first -- I just can't thank Theresa Bracchi enough for her excellent help and outline of how to get the HP to printing again under "Snow Leopard."

Yeah... I was snowed alright.

Thanks, Theresa. No thanks, Apple!
