Apple Hardware Test 2.0.2 for PowerMac MDD 1.25 Single.

Hello people,

No amount of searching has helped me to locate the individual disc image that shipped with this model of Mac that I want to test.

It's the last 1.25 single processor MDD released in 2003. I'm not sure, but I think the part number is:

OS X 10.2.7, Hardware Test 2.0.2, part#691-4567-A

Is there just one version of AHT 2.0.2 or model specific versions as well?

Here's the list and downloads for AHT for some G4 models if you don't find yours, some G4s only have it on the Original Install Disc...

I have a Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro1,1 and 3 out of 4 fans are not running at all. Think I need to run the AHT, but I can't locate the disc. How can I get the AHT image?

Hi dreinmann, and a warm welcome to the forums! 🙂

It should be on the Original Install Disc #1 for that model.

Boot off your original Install Disk while holding down the *d key*, (not c key), then run the extended Apple Hardware Test. Some disks require you to use the Option key at bootup to select AHT. Some models have a separate AHT CD.

I gather from reading through this thread that I also need 2.0.2 if someone could be so kind.

I have a G4 MDD Dual 1.25 that's experiencing frequent kernel panics. I downloaded the disc image (693-3994-A.dmg) from http://www.info.apple.com/support/aht.html and burned it, but my machine won't boot from it (I'm holding C)... just boots normally.

Did you burn it as per the included read me file(think it has to be burned from the disk utility)

Yes. I tried from Disk Utility and Toast... and ended up with matching coasters.

If that's the case, the question for Apple must be, "WHY?"

There are over 6000 messages in the thread on this site alone - does the manufacturer not read them? - or simply ignore them?

The G4's are all legacy machines and "officially" have no support provided.

Is this a reasonable explanation? I don't think so, but it doesn't matter.
The policy is as it is, and no AHT images beyond 1.2.6 are offered.
Heck, Apple didn't even provide an image of 1.2.7 for all the affected owners of incompatible 1.2.6 AHT discs. This is an incompatibility that Apple realized and released knowledge base documents on......
