Apple Hardware Test 2.0.2 for PowerMac MDD 1.25 Single.

Hello people,

No amount of searching has helped me to locate the individual disc image that shipped with this model of Mac that I want to test.

It's the last 1.25 single processor MDD released in 2003. I'm not sure, but I think the part number is:

OS X 10.2.7, Hardware Test 2.0.2, part#691-4567-A

Is there just one version of AHT 2.0.2 or model specific versions as well?

Cheers, R.

G4 1.42DP MDD, 2GB, 120GB, x800XT, 10.5.8 Server, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 5500 Director (250), 6100 (66), G3 Minitower 233 + Desktop (233), B&W G3 (350). LC, LCII

Hi,

Can I please know where I can get Apple Hardware Test 2.0.2? My 12" PowerBook G4 (A1010) screen display gets distorted when I run more than one application. I suspect video memory problem and need to confirm through hardware test. I tried 1.2.3 and 2.0.1 buth both indicate incompatible with hardware.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Ugh... Hopefully I've found the right place. My ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb video card fell apart recently so I purchased another one on ebay...ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac but with 256mb. I was really hoping to find parts for the 128mb card but can't seem to find any parts list and ATI won't talk to me. The small chip with the small black heat sink along the top side of the card fell off the board. I'm thinking it got jammed with a power cable or something and finally gave way. I can't remove the heat sink from the chip to ID it. If anyone might know this chip, please let me know so I can try and locate one.

Anyway, back to the topic. The new 256mb card appears to be bad. I'm getting badly distorted video on both DVI and VGA. The screen is covered with green and pink rectangles and I can barely read anything. Otherwise the system runs fine. I actually pulled card and can use the share screen feature with the laptop and there isn't any distortion on the remote screen. I've been trying to troubleshoot to make 100% that it is in fact the card before I return it. The seller swears that it worked fine. I'm thinking otherwise. I tried booting from the old original OSX disks and the hardware test says that doesn't support this machine. I then tried the 10.5 disk and it doesn't seem to be on there. What version should I try? I tried downloading from Apple and all there is is a read me file.

Also, might anyone have it to email me?

dual 1.25 MDD upgraded to 1.42 running 10.5.8

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert

Hello japamac,

I have been getting kernel panics in my iBook G4 12" and I cannot figure out what they are from. I have run a lot of loops in rember with no errors, so it must not be the memory. I would like to run AHT, but I never got any extra CDs when I bought the machine. I have even tried xbench, but that doesn't do any hardware stress tests, just the benchmark.

From other Googling, I think I have narrowed down the AHT version to 2.0.2 (but I am not positive that's the right one). Do you know if this is the right version of the CD and also where I might find it? I saw some URLs earlier in this thread that pointed to AHT images on the Apple site, but it looks like the last version Apple is providing is 1.2.6, which is too old (AFAIK).

Anyways, if anyone has any insight on what I can try, I would really appreciate it. I need to rely on my laptop and I can't until I nail this down.

I have a G4 1.25GHz single processor MDD model. The Software Install & Restore DVD that came with it has Apple Hardware Test version 2.0.2 on it.

Here's what the AHT Read Me file says:

+Apple Hardware Test diagnoses and detects problems with your computer's internal hardware components, such as the logic board, memory, modem, video RAM, and AirPort card. It does not check external hardware components, such as USB devices or FireWire devices, and it does not check non- Apple devices, such as PCI cards from other vendors. Apple Hardware Test also does not check for operating system (OS) or other software-related problems, such as application or extension conflicts.+

+Apple Hardware Test for Power Mac Version 2.0.2 is distributed with Apple Power Mac computers introduced in 2003 only. It does not work with other computers.+

I tried to retrieve the AHT files from the DVD using Pacifast. But I could not find it. Is it an invisible file? Has anyone been able to retrieve it from the DVD?

 Cheers, Tom 😉
