Snow Leopard-Exchange Mail: duplicate messages

I installed Snow Leopard this weekend and I am now receiving duplicate messages on all new mail items. Anything that's been read is fine, but all new messages come through with 2 items instead of one.
-If I log into Webmail, though, it only shows one message
-My iPhone only shows one message

I was using Entourage before, but have not used it since installing Snow Leopard. Plus, after installing Snow Leopard (Friday) I did not receive duplicates. I've looked for MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 but it does not exist.

Any solutions? It's quite annoying.

Hi I've had the same problem,it's nothing to do with Time machine, or MS Exchange or your server! Everyone should notify Apple.
Can everyone who's had this problem go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
And then Feedback Area (drop down menu) :Mail
Feedback Type: Bug Report
Point them to this thread and maybe we'll get a fix next update!!
Snow Leopard is about as buggy as Vista! I was a totally loyal Apple OS fan but this latest release has left me cold!

Just trying this. Problem appeared for me about the same time I upgraded to OS X 10.6.1, but I did buy a Time Machine at the same time. So have turned off TimeMachine. Will let you know if it fixes the problem, but sometimes I can go for days ok, and then it happens several times in one day. Will have to do manual backups for a while I suppose.
It has nothing to do with mail being closed and re-opened for me.

I use yahoo - this prob does not seem to be mail provider specific. I can delete the mails individually unlike some of you. The duplicates arrive automatically and are directly from my yahoo inbox. So I clear it out daily. It is a real pain. Considering choosing another mail app. But entourage has it's own problems.

Same here.

Although in an office with 4 Macs (3iMacs, 1 MacPro) We all have the same OS version and software - only one iMac is having the duplicate email problem. The iMac does NOT have a Time Machine back up - the MacPro does (with no duplicate problems) The one with duplicates is using Exchange 2007 (as are the others)

It had occurred several weeks ago and I found her mail account had both an internal and external server listed. I deleted the external one and that cleared everything up for a couple weeks. Now the problem is back

I had this problem initially, and had copies of emails that would appear in my Exchange account. If I deleted the original, it would delete the copy. If I deleted the copy, I couldn't delete the original. Instead I got an error telling me I couldn't move this email. I had three emails sitting in my mailbox for 3 months, wondering how I was going to get rid of them. It's important to note that these emails only showed within my mailbox on my MacPro at work. My iMac at home, or my iPod Touch would only show the current emails.

I have not had duplicates since the 10.6.2 update, so that my have fixed the initial problem, but it did not clear out the duplicates that were already there. But I finally found a way to get rid of them. I went to ~/Library/Mail/<mailbox for Exchange mail>/Inbox.ewsmbox/Messages/ and previewed all the mail to find the duplicates, and deleted them. Then I launched Mail, and clicked on the duplicates, and they disappeared. Of course, I kept my mailbox pretty clean up to this point, so I didn't have a lot of emails to go through. But at least it worked.

I hope this helps.

I just bought my macbook last week with Snow Leopard and this morning I woke up to duplications of all my emails back to October- not before that, and when I had someone send me an email both with the .mac and .me suffix, both came through singly. I thought maybe it had to do with the ending or something. I detest the .me and keep using my .mac and noticed apple is scooting out everything to do with my .mac address.
I will see if it continues but looks like it's still a mystery...
