One more time I skip this turn, why they do not want to sell:
- an iPhone without the voice and data plan, and let us buy them when we need (pre-paid cards)... this is just waht I wnt (ok... nobody else cares...) ?
- or an iPodTouch with 2 cameras (1 for webcam, one which acts as a camera), a mic mic ?
I will probably have to wait 6 years or more...

I've never used ebay so I've got a question: just how great is resale value of products after a new and improved version has hit the market?

not sure to be honest
but it will take a lot for me to need a 3rd gen, i've got a camera on my phone, i carry my phone and my iPod around with me. not like a camera on the iPod will add to my pocketed technology that much. ebay is still an option though.

the camera on my phone is so pathetic I was really looking forward to a Touch w/ camera. I am not interested in an iPhone, so basically Apple has let me and millions of others down, bigtime. I don't want a phone with so many features that it goes dead before lunchtime, if I actually use those features. If my touch goes dead while I'm out and about no biggie, but I don't want my phone to die.

This is a terrible move.

The biggest ipod event of the year and they do nothing to their flagship ipod, the touch. I was looking forward to getting an ipod touch, especially with a nice camera. My phone has a camera but it is terrible and you can do so much more with it on a touch.

Also a HUGE disappointment is the loss of 16gb. They are basically forcing you to go 32gb or 64gb, especially since some of the only updates they did today was ONLY to the 32 and 64gp models. 32 and 64gb is WAY to much for me, but 8gb is not enough. I am not going to spend extra for memory I will never use.

I am going to go into a different direction now, no touch. I will start looking at other brands that I have never thought to do in the past. Probably go with a lesser model to save some cash. Thanks for saving me some money apple! To bad you will not be getting it!

The only "yawn-provoking event" is the return of your idiotic posts to this forum. Man, for a guy who just dislikes Apple and it's products so, you sure you stick like molasses here.

For as many posts as you have, one would expect better manners than that.

I have to say I am in agreement with the OP on this one. The refinements introduced in this latest iTouch are not significant enough to motivate me to replace my old one. The only thing that would have prompted me to buy a new one would have been the addition of a camera, which, as has already been glaringly noted, was omitted from this latest hardware update.

This Apple event was a yawn-provoking event for me, too.

most other shops, companies have to reduce their retail sizes, or shut them down. Apple still grows faster thanks to us. Apple totally forgot about it. in San Francisco, Sony style store, PSP store all shut down due to economy situation. entire building is now belong to westfield some department store. so many expected that new itouch will get camera which takes advantage of all features on touch. but nano? you can't even upload file through air because it doesn't have wifi. stupid. you must connect with itunes, then itunes will do that for you. what a stupid idea! for the first time in the past 5 years, I will skip to buy new ipods. man, what a disappointed event!

Might I say one thing -
It COULD be that the iPod Nano cam was a PROTOTYPE. I know, the first time I heard that only the Nano got the cam, I was mad too.
But the more I thought about it, it all makes sense...
The Nano cam is probably just a test drive to show Apple what people think of the iPod cameras.
It's kinda like a public beta...
Only it's expensive. XP
But I can almost bet money (which I won't of course) that the next gen iPod Touch will have a built in camera, and that the iPhone's camera will get an upgrade with video.
Then again, I could be wrong...
In which case, too bad. :-|
