Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.

On first execution after a clean install of iTunes 9, this error message:

*Apple Application Support was not found.*

*Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again.*

*Error 2*

Can't run iTunes. Already reboot, reinstall, blah blah blah. Windows Vista 32.

i downloaded winRAR and opened the itunes setup with winRAR and it fixed that message, but now when i try to open itunes on my desktop it says that i need an apple application support. So then i open the itunes setup with winRAR once again and i see that there is an apple application support there so i tried running that with winRAR and i still got the same message that you see as well..... so idk maybe downloading winRAR and installing itunes from winRAR will help you, for me it just redirected the problem.

I installed winRAR, but there is no iTunes setup.exe icon, just iTunes admin.exe and iTunes.exe, and neither of them says "Open with winRAR". When I click on "Open With" I get something that says Windows can't open this file.

So now I'm really stuck. If I uninstall and re-install iTunes, will I lose all the music I've saved in my computer? And in my iPod?

HELP! My main problem is that I cannot get itunes9.2.exe to open because I have +*"insufficient privileges to access the C:\Program Files \ Common Files \ Apple \ Apple Application Support"*+. I have tried using the WinRAR solution others have mentioned but cannot get the itunes setup to appear on my desktop (only in the downloads from Firefox).

Perhaps I am an idiot. Is there an easy way to get this setup to appear on my desktop?

Is there another option of what I can do here?

Have tried the WinRar fix but my version does not have a repair icon on the toolbar. If you right click it says can only repair .rar or zip files so not sure how everyone else got this to work. ANY SUGGESTIONS

Thanks for the Great Support Everyone!

I had the same problem as stated earlier in this thread while performing a virgin installation of iTunes on a Dell Inspiron Mini w/Windows 7.

My fix was to install .NET framework available for Windows 7 via this link:

This also solved an inability to install Office 2007 🙂

Hope this helps!
