Itunes won't open after Installing 9 update

I installed the Itunes 9 upgrade. It downloaded fine. Then when it was done, I clicked on Itunes on my dock to open it but it just bounced like it was going to open but then stops and nothing opens. Is this happening for anyone else? Any suggestions on what to do...

Hmmm... I too just did what SideCar Harry suggested. I could relaunch iTunes but can't figure out how to get my library to open with it. I temporarily renamed the original folder to iTunes.old, then I removed the ".old" after reinstalling v. 8.2.1, but now when I open iTunes my music isn't there.

Are my playlists gone forever? I hope not... I have a radio show and rely heavily on my many playlists 😟

The original problem I was having: after upgrading to the new version, when I tried to run it, iTunes would open for a few seconds... but it was frozen, so I couldn't do anything, and it would just quit on its own.

Actually, according to my upgrade experience, iTunes 9 requires 10.5.7 or higher to work. iTunes says it requires 10.4.11, but it also requires Safari 4.0.3 to use the iTunes store. And Safari 4.0.3 will not install unless you're running 10.5.7 or higher.

So, upgrade with 10.5.4 like I have, and you'll have iTunes 9 but no access to the store. Try to uninstall and reinstall an earlier version, and you'll have a library that the earlier version can't read. No store or no library are my choices if I don't want to upgrade the OS. All the more maddening because I DID read the OS requirements before installing...this aggravation was completely preventable, if they had just said that it won't work on anything before 10.5.7.

I am absolutely infuriated about this iTunes 9 issue! I couldn't open my iTunes because it said I needed QuickTime updates - my computer won't open .pkg files so it took me 4 hours to figure out how to install it through copying and pasting (VERY frustrating!!!) then I tried to update my OSX to 10.4.11 but NooOooo same thing as the Quicktime - it's a darn .pkg and my computer refuses to install it! So, being ready to tear my hair out - I figured I'll install the new update for iTunes and listen to some music... OR NOT! I had the "One-Bounce" issue. So I spent another hour trying to troubleshoot on my own just to find here in the forums that I can't have iTunes 9 because it's for 10.4.11 and up only! AGHHH!! This is ridiculous!!! I now have to uninstall iTunes, download an older version of it and fix whatever else I have to, just to be where I started off 8 hours ago!! If the old iTunes doesn't work with the new QuickTime - expect to hear back from me lol

The whole reason I wanted to let this out is because I AGREE that Apple should have had a specs. warning prior to the smooth downloading of it's new iTunes - and to think I used to be in direct dispatch.. At least I don't have accidental damage! LOL!

Good luck everyone!

Update!

I deleted the iTunes 9 and guess what? I can't install any older version of iTunes because they all come in .pkg or .mpkg format and my computer refuses to install them! I am absolutely livid and do not know how to get my old iTunes back! Somebody from Apple or a wonderfully knowledgeable citizen please come to my aid! My life is incomplete without my iTunes and iPod :'(

I have OS X 10.6.1 and I am having the same problem. I accepted the Apple prompted update to get iTunes 9 and once the update was complete and I tried to open it I get a message telling me the installation was corrupted and I should reinstall iTunes. I have tried doing this with ITunes there and with iTunes removed. Nothing downloads so I can't reinstall.
HELP!

Just bought a new iPod Touch today and I upgraded (thoughtless of me!) my iTunes, since I coudn't access the store with my old version anymore.
I'm using the Version 10.4.11, did a few other upgrades (and my software updater won't start either!) now I can't install iTunes 9 and I can NOT install the older version either.

If I had known this sooner I would not have bought the iPod Touch at all.
*** should I do without a single song on it?
What's this crapola about?!

I tried every suggestion made on this thread but nothing works 😟
