I installed the Itunes 9 upgrade. It downloaded fine. Then when it was done, I clicked on Itunes on my dock to open it but it just bounced like it was going to open but then stops and nothing opens. Is this happening for anyone else? Any suggestions on what to do...
My iTunes has suddenly stopped working without warning as well.. I've followed the directions of uninstalling and stopping the iTunes Helper/reinstalling and yet it still does not work at all.. The icon only bounces for a sec in the dock but then nothing happens.. I REALLY need this to work!! HELP!!!!!
I haven't gotten a response to my question that I posted and it is sort of related to this discussion because it started with the itunes update. I have 10.4.11 and I tried to install the 9.0.2 update (9.0.1 was working fine), but I got the error about itunes being corrupted. I tried to delete and reinstall multiple times both the current update and older versions, but now I get a message that there is an error in the installation every time. In addition to the itunes problem, at some point there was a system update as well...which also failed multiple times. After restarting, a bunch of my applications won't open (mail, safari, ichat, adium, smcfan control, to name the ones I know of). In addition, software update won't open from the pull-down menu (but it will from the system preferences -- although it tells me there are no updates even though the itunes and system update didn't install). In addition, most packages I try to install now crash the installer. I have a feeling the software update it told me to install was not for 10.4 and made a bunch of things go haywire...I am assuming at this point that I will need to reinstall the system, which will be a pain since there have been so many updates since my original install disk...any ideas? =/
My iTunes stopped working abruptly too.. After days of crying and wishing for another computer to fall from the sky I updated Quicktime 7. No more problems with iTunes!! It works like a charm.. Just download and install Ouicktime 7 and restart your computer.. Worked for me
Update on iTunes 9.0.2 problem with Leopard 10.5.8 running on a 1.67 Ghz G4 hi-res PowerBook. When I attempted to start iTunes after updating it and Quicktime, iTunes would not start. I got an error message which said I needed Quicktime 7.5.5. I had just loaded 7.5.4 which was the latest.
Just a few moments ago, I tried starting iTunes after _doing nothing_ with it for about a week, and it's running just fine. I have a lovely stream coming in from WFMT, Chicago and am fat and happy!
