I have a few smart playlists set to contain podcasts. (BBC podcasts for example) My playlist in iTunes contains a few podcasts but after finishing syncing the podcast playlists on my iPod are empty. The playlists that contain music sync ok. This function used to work in the previous version.
I'm using an older 80 gig iPod. Is anyone else having this problem?
Thank you Gene and Sam for this bit of information. I too have also sent Apple a bug report on this detailing the sets taken to reproduce this error. I truly hope the gets addressed right away. I though that something had gone wrong with my iPod sync when I upgraded to iTunes 9. I even preformed a reset on my iPod in the hopes to get my playlists working again.
I had “automatically include” unchecked; he had it include all episodes of every selected podcast. I haven’t tried his solution, as my iPod isn’t big enough for all my podcasts, but the only difference (I think) is that all podcasts would be on the iPod, regardless of playlists.
If someone could PLEASE help me out - I have a slightly different issue (I think) and have been going crazy trying to fix it. I recently updated to iTunes 9 and have lost the ability to sync my playlists to my iPod. I have way too many songs and podcasts for my iPod (3 Gen Nano) to hold them all so I sync my music and have a personal playlist created (not a smart one just a regular old playlist) to listen to various podcasts. When I updated to 9, I lost my On-the-Go playlists so I created a new one. It shows up on iTunes and allows me to copy my podcasts over to it. However, when I connect my iPod to the computer the playlist does not show show up on my iPod or within my device tab on iTunes. I tried the "bug fixes" listed in the forum but don't have the drop down boxes that everyone is describing. All I want to do is take my playlist that contains podcasts I want to listen to and have it sync to my iPod. I was able to do this until I updated my iTunes software. Any suggestions?? Should I downgrade to a previous version of iTunes? And if so, how do I do that? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am very frustrated and have spent waaaay too much time on this already. Thanks in advance!
I’ve never used a nano; can you post a screenshot of your nano’s Podcasts tab in iTunes? If it is similar enough, you should probably be able to go in the Podcasts tab and uncheck “Automatically include…”. Also, make sure you have your playlists checked under the Podcasts tab.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Now it's working as before. Seems like every time I go into iTunes it looks differently. Kudos to you for figuring it out - I really appreciate it - I was ready to go buy a new iPod!
