iTunes 9 incredibly SLOW [imac 2ghz Intel]

Nope I did a clean install of Snow Leopard, and iTunes is driving me insane every 30 seconds I get the spinning ball for no apparent reason, so right now I feel pretty compelled to "trash Apple". I just hope they fix this major issue soon.

I'm having the same issues although I'm not sure if it's an issue with itunes or Snow Leopard. Ever since I upgrade to Snow Lep, there seems to be a huge lag when playing tracks in my library. I click on a track, itunes freezes, i get the spindle, and then 10 seconds later, the song finally plays.

Anyone else having this issue?

Prior to iTunes 9.0.1, everything was fine. Adding, scrolling, deleting, renaming, playlists - fine.

However, after 9.0.1, iTunes is painfully slow. Arrow-scrolling one song at a time lingers with the spinball, far too long. Column changes, reordering, renaming, deleting, or playlist addition causes similar delays.

Ironically, once music begins to play, it's fine. I'm very surprised this hasn't been addressed yet.

Has anyone found a successful remedy for this sluggish issue?

I had an issue: Loading tracks took 3-5 seconds. Then I moved my music library from external HD FAT-partition to HFS+-partition and problem was solved. Everything is snappy now!

Ugh, I hate the sluggishness of iTunes 9. Please, PLEASE apple, hear our cries and fix it! So I have a lot of music, so what? Your software should be able to accommodate. Your iPods have no problem with 160 GB of songs, it's not sluggish at all... but iTunes well there's another story. I loved iTunes until now, I'm even thinking of switching music libraries.. please don't make me do that apple, please don't let me us Rhapsody eeeek!

Yup, same here. iMac with 3 GB RAM/10.6.2 with external USB drive for iTunes library (12k songs, 450 movies). iTunes 9.0.2 runs too slow to play non-sync'd files on Apple tv.

Tried 9.0.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2

Soooo sluggish and slow. Scrolling in list view, scrolling the playlist column. All of it is just drags.
iTunes is pulling between 3 and 5% of CPU power when playing song. If I scroll, it jumps up to 83% !!!

83% of a 2.5Ghz processor just to scroll a window? Really?

Please fix.

Even I experience itunes usage shooting up to 99% when all I'm doing is syncing my ipod or playing an mp3 file!

You can scroll while playing music? Lucky!!
