I upgraded my iPhone 3G to the 3.1 firmware on Wednesday. Since then, my phone can't see any wifi networks. I've tried to do a restore twice, as well as rebooting the phone a couple times, and it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix? It's looking like a trip to the Genius bar 😟
Ive read all 20 pages on this forum unlike some others on here...those that keep hashing reset settings and router...cmon guys you can do and be better than that....I know all phones are a bit diff and diff hardware and software..but this thread is for "no wifi after upgrade"..we all know by now now there is a defect in the wifi chip..as in most manafacturing they come in batches.....prolly most of us on here have gotten the :bad: batch phones.....there are thousands on here with bad wifi chips but Im sure there are millions w/ perfectly good phones..I myself am on my 3rd phone..I thought my battery was burning out....my phone got hot and crashed...now I realize that it was the wifi adapter..I use wifi when at home instead of 3G...Ive gotten replacement phones each time after mailing back fed-ex like many others on this thread.....Apple is all too willing to give you a refurbished phone hoping it be a lucky one with no wifi issues or YOU give up ..I have scheduled a Apple expert phone call today..Sun/11/22 and Im going to rant and rave..I suggest WE all do the same...call Apple...e-mail.....make them call YOU....WE as a whole can make them fix this wifi issue by taking action....and for those who keep up with that reset network settings or airplane mode and the like....YOUR wifi will go out....it can be tomorrow or 2 months from now but there is a conflict w/ 3.1.2 and the wifi chip and it heat up and burn out....lets take a stand....GLTA
I have also experienced the same problems with Wifi after upgrading to the latest software on my iPhone 3G...cant found my home network unless I am sat right on top of the router but once I move away, the network disappears...
Well I had my iPhone 3G upgraded to 3.1.2 and it was working fine. I did a restore of my phone and the WiFi was working fine for a bit, but then it just stopped. I now get the infamous "unable to connect to network" message. I've tried everything on here! What can I do to get htis working. My phone is out of warranty, I don't have 3G or reception where I live. This ludicrous and completely unacceptable. I have never been this infuriated with a company, ever! It will not connect on a single network!
Well, I got a 3rd gen 8gig iPod with wifi issues
I have a 16 gig 3gs with wifi issues and I have
a wireless Ethernet card in a desktop with the same
issues, wifi drops, you can see it but can't connect.
And all I do is push the wireless modems power button
off then on and WHAM, fixed. It happens at least once
a day but that usually fixes it. I have had it happen with
my laptop too. I've had it happen with and without encryption
I've thought about adding the mac addresses to see if that
would fix it but havn't yet BUT i know my issue is my modem.
Got the same problem after the 3.1.2 upgrade. Nothing worked so far, tried almost everything that was mentioned here. Don't you think it is time to fix that problem, apple?
Me too. Me too. All the same issues. No WiFi. Restart. Reset. Reinstall. Done the lot and still no Wireless. I love my phone and it is the best gadget I have ever owned but this is a glitch!
Love Apple to take notice....... Bloody frustrated with it and glad I don't rely on WiFi!!
Is anyone from Apple going to help or even talk to us???
How come I upgrade my firmware and things stop working??? I live in Brazil... how can I get support or anything? They sell the phones here, so they should have support... If it is a problem with the phone (hardware) I guess they should give me another one, no? If it is sowftware, how did they release this ****???
HELP!!!!!! I payed a lot of money to get a useless phone.. =(
I have the same problem. 3G was working fine till my upgrade to 3.1 firmware. Wish I had checked this forum before updating. Even with so many complaints, there is no response from apple...makes no sense in buying apple if our collective consumer complaints go unanswered.
I've got the same problem here too - tried rebooting, and after about the 10th time my wifi actually came back. This was a month or so ago. Unfortunately it ran out of power the other day and when I recharged the phone the wifi was gone again.
Multiple reboots, resets, restores etc. Nothing has helped - I'm now without wifi again.
I have a feeling that it's the baseband that is corrupt, but since I'm on version 05.09 I can't downgrade/reinstall that to test it.
I just hope that apple will finally take some notice of all these messages, and I urge anyone who has the problem and not noted it in this thread to do so. The more messages here, the more likely it is that apple will finally take notice of us all.
I thought I saw close to 99 pages at one time, but maybe that was a glitch or maybe a lot of posts got deleted. There are also numerous smaller threads will similar topics.
In either case, it says a lot about Apple for them not to acknowledge the problem. What's worse, is that every day they're letting more people kill their wi-fi by upgrading.
It's the phone and I'm guessing you jailbroke it. You can get wifi to work, but you have to go into setting and reset the Network with the reset button. you have to do this everytime you power off to my knowledge. I have an aquantance who Jailbroke a 3GS and this happend. don't know if there is fix yet, I don't think so.
mine certainly isn't jailbroken. Just no WiFi. Reset the phone several times. Completely wiped it twice. Tried to connect to wifi before reinstalling my backup. Nothing. Apple tell me I have to pay for the repairs even tho I got this one in January as a replacement for one I had smashed!
