Pages won't open documents or templates

I tried to re-install it and did all updates. But it will not open any pages documents, not even an empty page. What could I do? Thanks for help - Sigi

User is your Home folder
Library is the folder called Library, in your Home (User ) folder
Preferences is a folder in the Library folder
com.apple.iwork.pages.plist is the preference file you shall trash/bin/delete. Drag it to the trash can and empty the trash
Instead of writing all this text we have learnt to just write User > Library e.t.c, or like Yvan has written it.
I hope you'll find it!

This is an old thread & I doubt your problem is the same as the OP's. There are many other more recent threads about users having problems since updating the Mac OS. As I have posted many times in those other threads:

Many users are finding problems with the iWork apps in Snow Leopard due to not having the latest updates as of the September 28 installed. For iWork '08 that is Pages 3.0.3 & Numbers 1.0.3. For iWork '09 it's Pages 4.0.2 & Numbers 2.0.2. iWork '09 has since had update 3. I don't use Keynote, but it should also be updated. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '08 or iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08 or iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '08 or '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

Before I posted here, I looked for more recent threads on the same topic as this one from September 21, 2009, and found none. Can you please refer me to more recent threads that might solve my problem?

I'm using iWork 2009. My Pages was updated through 4.0.3 on October 26, 2009. I have not moved any installation. Before I checked here, I ran DiskUtility to repair the Preferences, and no problem was identified with Pages.

Nothing I've tried, including the suggestion above, has worked. How can I get Pages to work?

Before I respond to your post, let's review what we know. The title of this thread is "Pages won't open documents or templates". That topic is restricted to "Pages" and precisely describes my problem. My problem is with iWorks 2009 4.0.3 version of Pages on my G4 Mac OSX (10.5.8) Leopard.

My problem is in no way related to the "Marketing Part Number" you addressed in your link "one". No solution to my problem is provided in that thread.

My problem is in no way related to "iWork 09 won't open in 10.6" you addressed in your link "two". No solution to my problem is provided in that thread.

Again, I'm not using Snow Leopard, and I haven't moved the Pages icon or any other pages file. While the "Pages won't open any Word documents" thread you addressed in your link "three" partially addresses my problem, the remainder in no way addresses my problem. No solution is provided there.

My problem is restricted to Pages and, again, I'm not using Snow Leopard. Numbers and Keynote work properly, which is why I replied in the thread restricted to "Pages". You can see that my problem is in no way related to the "Can't open any Excel files after installing Snow Leopard" you addressed in your link "four". No solution to my problem is provided in that thread.

My problem is in no way related to "Pages crashes on launch" you addressed in your link "five". No solution to my problem is provided in that thread.

My problem is in no way related to "Not opening in Snow Leopard" you addressed in your link "six". No solution to my problem is provided in that thread.

My problem is in no way related to "Pages Keeps Hanging" you addressed in your link "seven". No solution to my problem is provided in that thread.

While the "Pages 09 not opening Microsoft document" thread you addressed in your link "eight" partially addresses my problem, the remainder in no way addresses my problem. No solution is provided there.

My problem is in no way related to "Pages will not load correctly when opened. Template page is blank" you addressed in your link "nine". No solution to my problem is provided in that thread.

While the "Can't open doc files in Pages" thread you addressed in your link "ten" partially addresses my problem, the remainder in no way addresses my problem. No solution is provided there.

With all due respect, nothing I've found or that you referenced provides a solution and most deal with Snow Leopard. I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm trying to find a solution to repair Pages.

Can anybody please help me?
