Download Error. Tap to retry.

Whenever I try and download a song from itunes directly to my iphone I get the message: Download Error. Tap to retry.

I've checked that I don't have any t&c's to accept in itunes and that the files are under 10mb. I've also tried deauthorizing and reauthorizing my compueter which doesn't help.

Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm using a brand new 3GS which syncs with windows vista.

Thanks in advance 🙂

I am facing similar issue right now. Rented two movies, now trying to download and I get disconnected now and then. The worst part is the download does not resume automatically, I had to click on resume every time and its been going on for almost 2 hours now. At this rate, I am never going to rent a movie from itunes again.

Love itunes for music still!

Thank you for the step by step. You gave me the missing piece as pausing and retrying alone didn't work, the airplane mode on/off screw is what made it work for me. For 2 days the annoying repetitive "could not download "song name" messages plagued me. I retired from cloud on replacement phone and this happened on a dozen of so songs so you can imagine the pop ups every few seconds as another failed. Very helpful post from a very grateful reader if that post!

I've had this problem on my iPhone before, but my iPad randomly decided it needed to get in on it too. It decided to download some songs on its own. Enter Pop-up-insanity. So what worked for me was to go in my music, and search for the song that was gliched. Next, I manually stopped the download by hitting the red "circle progress thingy". Then I started the download from the song's options selections bar. It took two seconds to download, and my blood pressure is returning to normal as I type this.

Download Error. Tap to retry.
