Drivers for Canon CLC 3200 and Canon IRC 2380

As you have seen already, the Canon driver download provided by Apple does not include drivers for the larger imageRUNNER business products. The download only has the consumer inkjet and some laser products.

FYI - the CLC3200 is known as an iRC3200 in other regions. Canon Europa added the CLC tag to indicate the machine had the imagePASS-C1 print controller attached.

At this point in time, EFI, the makers of the imagePASS-C1, have not released a driver update for 10.6. But they have released an updater tool on their web site that will change the permissions on some files within the driver folder to allow you to complete the installation (you are probably getting the message 'the printer software was installed incorrectly'). For this updater tool to work correctly, you do need to have installed the Universal Binary version of the imagePASS-C1 driver. You can download the UB driver via this link...

Regarding the iRC2380, you should be able to use the UFR2 v2.00 driver. While it is not listed as being officially supported on 10.6, it does work okay. You can download the UFR2 v2.00 driver via this link...

Hello,

Hoping you can help... we have a Canon iRC3220 in our office. After upgrading to Snow Leopard we cannot print.

I have installed both the links in this post, the UB driver and the EFI update, the driver installation wont complete itself, still resulting in not being able to print. In my print queue window the printer stays on 'paused'.

It looks as if you have been very helpful in other posts so hoping you maybe able to help us.

The drivers I posted were for the imagePASS-C1, which is an optional print controller (also known as a Fiery) that attaches to the back on the imageRUNNER. If you don't have this print controller connected to your iRC3220 then this driver will not work.

To check if you have the imagePASS, have a look at the back of the iRC3220. If you see a white metal box that has a separate power cord, two network cables and another cable that connects between the iRC3220 and the metal box, then you have the imagePASS.

If you don't see the metal box then you have the internal Canon board. In this case, you need to use the Canon PPD (as the UFR driver mentioned in the other reply does not support your iR). You can download the v2.70 PPD installer via the following link...

After running the installer, you can add the printer via IP > LPD. Enter the IP address of the printer, a queue name of LP, and in the Print Using menu select Canon iRC2620/C3220.

The error -50 will occur when the protocol is set to HP Jetdirect-Socket. Delete this queue and create a new queue, selecting LPD for the protocol and a queue name of LP. Then select the 2380 in the Print Using menu.

The message is not an error but a warning, that if your output doesn't appear as expected then you should change the quality mode. The problem is that just about every document you print with a graphic gets this message. They only way I have found to stop it from appearing is to create a preset.

Select to print a document from any application and then change the print dialog to the UFR's Quality menu. Press the Quality Settings button. At the top of this menu you will see the Graphics Mode. Select Raster Mode then OK. Now click on the Presets menu and choose Save As. Give this a name, such as Raster and set if for this printer only. Click OK to finish. Now when you print, you can select the Raster preset and the message won't appear.

Thanks for all the information. Not sure if you can help me out. I can get the my C3220 to print via the techniques described, but I cannot get it to print in color for some reason. Any ideas? Thanks for your help in advance.

I installed all the drivers I found for the ir C2380i. Tried your UFR II protocol by adding printer> more printers > Canon IP (UFR II).

After I insert the IP of the printer (which is recognized), pressing the Add button doesn't go further. It doesn't allow me to add it. Have any idea of why this happens?

I have the drivers installed and when I try to choose "Select Printer software" only two options appear for this printer: Canon iR C2380/2550, and the same with PS (UK) in front. No UFR option. I have coworkers who have it working that have this with the UFR in front and installed the UFR II driver. I'm stumped.

Hello csaur,

It sounds like you are using Generic PCL for the print driver. This will only print in b&w.

I suggest you install the Canon PPDs (I believe Canon USA is hosting v2.80 on their web site). With these installed, you can add the Canon iRC3220 via the Print Using menu which will print in color.

It sounds like you don't have the UFR2 v2.00 driver installed. The entry 'Canon iR C2380/2550' is added by the Canon PPD installer and the entry 'Canon iR C2380/2550 PS (UK)' is from the Canon PS 'CUPS' Driver v2.xx. Since this PS driver cannot be installed on Snow Leopard, it indicates that you upgraded from 10.5.

Note that the 2380 PPD will work on 10.6, providing you have PostScript installed in the copier. If you don't have PostScript, then you will need the UFR2 v2.00 driver, which you can download from here.
With this driver installed, then you will have 'Canon iR C2380/2550 UFR II (UK)' in the menu.

I was able to print using the EFI update and the binaries on my irc 2620, but it gets confused as to which tray to send the job to. With the error " No bounding box comments in header".

Hi,
I installed the Canon iR C2380/2550 UFR II (UK) driver thanks to you. It was working great for my first test.
But now, I always have an error message followed by a crash of the application from where I was trying to print (Mail, Pages, etc.).
The error message says "error when using libinfo_analyze.dylib module.
Am I the only one with this?
FYI, I installed the PSD first but since PostScript is not installed in the copier, I used the UFR solution.

I can print the test page successfully. And when I try to print from an app, it crashes... 😟
At first, it was working. I followed the tip for not having the warning message and save the setting. Since, it crashes.
When I'm printing the test page, I have the warning message. But from an app, I'm not able to access the print setting dialog box.
Does someone have a clue?
