Mini display port to HDMI problem

I have my aluminum Macbook perfectly wired up to my 32 inch RCA HDTV. Nothing will come up on the screen, I've tried detect display, I've tried restarting the computer, unplugging and plugging back in then detect display, turned the tv of and on, but nothing is working. I am currently running Snow Leopard, but when I was on Leopard this process of attaching the TV to the computer just took about 10 minutes of doing desultory processes that I've already described. Any suggestions on how to make it work the first time?

I posted this a while back under the title: External Monitor goes black using mini-display port to DVI cable. I received no reponses except 4 people were having this issue also. I am starting to wonder if its the mini-display port connectors in side the MacBook Pro that is the issue, and Apple doesn't want to have to replace the motherboard.

I am exeriencing an issue with my new MacBook Pro(summer 2012). When connected to an external monitor, using the mini display port to DVI cable, after a period of time all of a sudden my screen will flicker and go to black. Sometimes I just get a screen of snow. I have to then power down the Macbook, disconnect the mini diplay port, boot the Macbook back up and then plug the mini diplay port back into the laptop. It may work for a while then the issue happens again.

I called Apple and they recommend I take it into an Apple store. Problem is an Apple store is 2 hours away and I am not sure they will be able to replicate the problem, since it doesn't happen right away. I know it's not a monitor issue, since I have switched out the monitors and the issue still occurs. I have reformated the HDD many times. Still not sure what is causing the issue. Any thoughts?
