HD movie play back too fast in imovie after import

HD movie clip taken from panasonic lumix DMC-ZS3 is playing back after import to imovie at twice the speed. I've seen many post with people having this issue but no real answer. Some say upgrading to iLife 09 fix the problem while others said it didn't resolve the issue. I have iLife 08.

Can someone please help, this is really annoying.

Has anyone gotten an answer to this issue? I'm having the same problem and there doesn't seem to be any concrete answers indicated here. Help! I have iLife 08.

Like many others, I am using iMovie '08 & a footage shot with a Panasonic Lumix FZ35 & the video & audio are totally out of sync. Would LOVE an answer to this question as well!!

Hey all -

I don't know if this helps, but I was experiencing fast motion using an old Sony cam (DCR-TRV 520) with my iMac and found a solution. This was the first time I used this camera since I used it with my old eMac (with which it worked fine). I connected the two and the connection seemed shaky; when it captured video, it played back in fast motion.

Anyway, I have an external FireWire hard drive connected to the computer, and just for fun before I gave up completely, I connected the camera to the hard drive's open FireWire slot and opened iMovie. Presto! Everything imported flawlessly.
