Google Talk and iChat Snow Leapord

I am trying to find out if any other people can not longer video chat with a Jabber account using gmail account to anyone else that uses Google Talk. This set up worked fine before the upgrade to Snow Leapord and iChat 5.0

I have contacted Apple support and they will not offer support for setting up Google Talk.

I also have a Mobile Me account and still can not seem to video chat using a specific Apple test account.

So I looking for any help with that does use iChat and Google Talk

The question most people seem to be asking is, can a Mac running iChat (logged into Google via Jabber) make voice/video calls to PCs running GoogleTalk? The answer is no. Apparently, they both use different audio/video codecs that are incompatible.

If this limitation is is purely because of codecs, I don't understand why the iChat and/or GoogleTalk developers haven't resolved this yet. I'm certain that solving this problem isn't beyond the capability of the developers and it's clear that there are people who want this functionality.

I'm also sure most people would agree that using a web browser isn't ideal and would rather have their IM accounts localised and unified with a single program, such as iChat, Adium etc. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a practical solution is offered soon...

Hi,

You will notice from this article that Google have not even made sure it works with all other Jabber applications that can do Video

If Google will not stick to any standard no-one is going to follow.
