Problem with iWeb asking for username and password to access my public site
Today for some reason anyone trying to access my site is being asked for username and password. I have made no changes that would require a password. My site has always been public.
I am also having the same problem with my webpage http://www.GregoryMHeller.com. Just built the page a week ago too and never had the problem until my brother noticed it yesterday. Any further word from Apple?
Apple, WHY?
Please, tell us why!
You're destroying my website and visitors are going away (- 21% in one week).
I spoke with MobileMe support 2 times without results.
It's not a joke, this issue is tremendly serious and we need a solution immediately.
Otherwise (for the first time in my maclife)... goodbye MobileMe!
I got a friend to try on Internet explorer and it didn't ask for the password. But on safari or iPhone safari I get it randomly. Anyone tried firefox? Either way im running a record label here and apple have given me a hundred and one reasons to cancel MobileMe, but since having it for 4 years now I'm prepared to wait. Just wish they would bloody fix it.
I have contacted support 6 times and have gotten different responses each time. Seems like everything they try fixes the problem for about 1-2 hours then I get the password prompt again. They opened up a case for me and a support person emailed me. That was 3 days ago and no contact since then. I have no idea what they are doing but this lack of communication is ridiculous.
I tried going into MobileMe preferences, changing the password prompt, republishing, everything...NOTHING WORKS!
11 Hours.........That is how long I worked with this yesterday. 6 hours was with 4 different apple techs. My site has been active since February of last year. Now it is not. APPLE......DARN YOU!!! YOUR PUBLIC NEEDS HELP.
I'm using mobileme on a trial basis. i just published the site (www.cynthiacalhoun.com) and like everyone else, am experiencing the same problem. i've "chatted" and e'd with 2 senior reps. "empty your cache, etc.". i've gone through all the steps at least 4 times but no luck. the domain is parked with go daddy. i called them and they claim it's an apple problem.
the last correspondence i received from earlier today says everything looks fine. well, i guess that's because the website they referenced wasn't mine. i wrote back and told the rep that the the site and account he referenced was incorrect. that was at 10:51 AM, EST. still no word back.
I had this problem today, so I made an adjustment to every page (put a space in the text then deleted it) and re-uploaded it. That seems to have fixed the problem.
The only thing I can think of is that I used Cyberduck to back-up some files to my iDisk yesterday, so that may have effected it's permissions somehow. I'm going to upload to the iDisk using the web interface in future (even if it is sloooooooooowwwww).
It's unbelievable! After two weeks this problem still remain. It's random and appears in different pages. Apple, is it possible to have a solution? ... because the problem is at your side!
Apple please fix this. It's not like we're getting a free service here. We pay good money to have our websites hosted, and for a grant-funded non-profits like some of us, this is devastating.
